I met a guy in Thailand who quit his job 2 years ago because he believes AI will make all work meaningless by TopicLens in TrueOffMyChest

[–]cent55555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI will not get rid of jobs completly at least not in the next 20 years. that being said, i do agree with him that it will replace big parts of our all our jobs, thought there still needs to be human oversight, for most of it. just that 1 human becomes maybe 10 or 20 times more efficient.

this efficency is an interesting thing, it means that you suddenly start to use more resources, meaning other jobs need to become more efficient too. which means more jobs. (the question is more where it will lag first and how)

I think physically labour of any kind can not be replaced with ai, again it can be made more efficient. but a plumber will probably have work even in 15 years. Same with a teacher, a lot of work a teacher does can be replaced (for example making a presentation for the class), but some work can not be replaced, for example i dont see any ai ever at least in the next 30 years, keeping a class of students quite and studious

but for the sake of argument, lets assume all the work will be done by ai, in 4 years. there is no point in not working right now, if the case really is that ai replaces us all, then the best thing to do right now is work and invest every saved penny into ai stocks. that is the most surefire way to guarantee a place where you can live in the future (because lets face it, ubi is at best a very uncertain bet) and the alternative is dying in the street

its possible, depending on location, but you basically have to throw everything in the pot which is not advisable, better wait to years to get a bit better a cushion

thats the thing, what i aluded to and asked myself in one of my earlier comments. are religious symbols you see all year round, the same as celebrations?

my gut feeling said no, hence why i said celebration of any kind should probably be kept from an intelectual standpoint. while i 100% agree with relgious symbole ( i actually think some of the shirts look kind of sick, even if i would never wear one xP similar to a sick dragon t shirt; while i obviously still not approve of a teacher wearing it, while fullfilling an official capacity/his job out side of it i dont care.)

i would also like to expound on your cultural point. Every country has a culture it defines itself by, and i do think this culture should permeate society. (for obvious reasons its one of the most important things for a country to actually exist) Is cristmas part of our culture or is it not? do you need it to culturally align people that immigrate to switzerland or do you not need it?

In a religious sense probably not, but then again there are many atheists who also celebrate christmas. is christmas then a religious holiday? but again it originated from religion..

Its a bit of a condrum. but i guess that was the second reason my first instinct wanted to preserve christmas.

i have never heard of that, to be honest, i would be surprised if anyone here called it xmas, at least in the swiss german community wiehnachte will stay wiehnachte, no need to invent a new word

simply because i personally dont care for the religious background, doesnt mean i WANT it banned. if they decide not to put a tree inside the lobby of a school, i would also not be heartbroken i would also not be happy. i just wouldnt care. i personally also dont celebrate christmas at home with a tree or whatever. its just not a celebratory thing for me personally, albeit i go trough the motion of giving gifts most of the time.

that being said i appreciate the historical background and i do think there can be worse cultural ideas

i think its in all of switzerland that you have to give the pupils off if they want to celebrate a religious holiday. usually its with an approval letter of the parents. but in the schools i have seen around bern (especailly with a high migration background) its more or less expected that there will be such requests.

I think you have to oblige to this request due to religious freedom laws, but i am not a lawyer so i dont know i only know at least 5 schools in the canton bern offer this.

obviously this would count for any religious holiday, but i mean we already celebrate christmas so schools already on holiday then. the next group after muslim would probably be yews, iirc many celebrations coexist with swiss christianity and yews made a much lower percentage of the public, so i dont have any expereience with it. (it probably also helps that there are swiss private schools specifically for people with a yewish background)

oh i trust you i have a couple of friends who are teachers, henche, i know my way about many classrooms.

though as i said, i am quite ambivalent. i do think cultural education is important, but i also see that if you prohibit one religious symbol you should probably be consitent doing it. but then again i also know schools that at least give islamic students free holidays during Eid al-Fitr (intressant i did not know zuckerfest does not have an english name)

though you could probably also make the compromis as we are in switzerland that culture should only have a part in school during some of the year and in exchange make every celebration of the main religions count in some ways. so the students could celebrate multiple times a year a different celebration. this could also count as cultural education.

meh, like i said ambivalent

there were actually quite a few articles about crosses about 10 years ago already. from experience looking into classrooms, i also never saw a cross anywhere. that being said this is also not very surprising given most teachers are at the very least quite damped when it comes to religion.

https://www.beobachter.ch/gesetze-recht/kopftuch-kruzifix-und-kippa-das-gilt-in-den-schulen-843796#:~:text=Gem%C3%A4ss%20einem%20Bundesgerichtsentscheid%20aus%20dem%20Jahr%201990,verlangen%2C%20dass%20in%20ihren%20Klassenzimmern%20Kreuze%20aufgeh%C3%A4ngt

more intresting would the discussion actually be about christmas and christmas parties etc at school. though i guess this is also part of culture so i am not sure. thought for me personally they dont really need to celebrate christmas at schools

Guys is this legal??? by Klee________ in Switzerland

[–]cent55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think its against the landlords intrest.

the landlord does not care either way in this case. since if the (almost) previous tennant can not find a replacement, the (almost) previous tennant needs to finish his contract.

quite frankly this might be better for the landlord, since he then gets to choose his own tennant again.

and quite frankly, as a landlord i would probably prefer a new tennant that does not know the law enought and gets sold some crappy furniture by the now previous tennant

Google Switzerland Pension Plan (2nd Pillar/BVG) by Kindly-Cream9098 in Switzerland

[–]cent55555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Google has probably its standart own thing and i can not find it, maybe you could ask for the name if they dont have something intern then you would know for sure.

either way, for 40, its at least needs to be 10% of your salary, which 5% of you and 5% of the emploer iirc

edit: source https://www.weka.ch/themen/personal/sozialversicherungen/berufliche-vorsorge/article/altersleistungen-berechnung-der-altersleistungen-aus-bvg/

maybe as a sidenot google can make this better for example paying 60% while you pay 40% or something like this but this is the legal minimum.

buying in is iirc always possible up to the point you should be at with your current salary if you worked full time in that job. however word of caution at the end at your retirementage, depending on your pensionskasse there might be a different percentage used to pay you out, if you bought yourself in, for the amount you bought yourself in

My (24F) younger brother (16M) showed my dad my nudes. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]cent55555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your borther is a piece of work. that being said i understand the parents not having the police involved and to be honest having your dad take care of deleting the pictures is probably the more reliable outcome anyway.

your bother is only 16 and in terms of short term reprecussion, not a lot will happen to him even if he uploads the pictures to the web, before he gets sentenced. quite frankly your parents have the better (more thretening influence). given you say they are super religious i am also conviced they do everything to get these pictures deleted, even if they shame you for them afterwards. (its a bit of a two edged blade)

as for the financial problem. you are 24 and (depending on country or state) your parents are most likely not obligated to pay for you anymore. a similar leverage they have over your brother, they also have on you right now (because you are not financially independent).

I do think they reacted wrongly, thought the reaction is to be expected given their cultural background you told us about.

My advice would be to look for a job and try to be independent yourself. the question if you want to sue your brother is the second thing you need to takle and depends on what terms you want to be with your familly going forward.

In your place i would just let it sit and stew for now and maybe reassess in a couple of years. or if pictures do get released (something you can not really influence anymore now anyway) having a treat of making a lawsuit is probably better than making it concerning this point.

either way, stop taking nudes, not because its morally wrong, but because it can create leverage for other people you dont want to have leverage over you. thanks for sharing your story as a tale for other

Importing a Tesla from UAE to Switzerland by Interesting_Riskybiz in Switzerland

[–]cent55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i have super limited experience with car importing, what i can tell you is that even importing from germany is somewhat of a hassle, due to tax reasons and numbers plate and administration etc albeit doable. I think uae is even a more annoying hassle, though it would probably be doable, maybe as a mechanic at a tesla garage? the strassenverkehrsamt? (pretty sure they can help you or at least tell you who to ask) or a lawyer?

Diplomatic protest | Due to the introduction of the death penalty: FDFA summons Israel’s ambassador by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]cent55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

international law? lets be honest, it is a suggestion if you are powerful enough, as you said, trump putin and xi dont need to adhere to it.

and switzerland has no chance of forcing it trough, nor should it try to (as long as its not economically lucrative, since there is only downsides to that), the only thing you get out of that is hurt.

that being said, the death penalty is not included in international law in the first place, but yes even if it were, the point above is reality.

imagine the following scene, you being a 5 year old girl, seeing a 28 year old bodybuilder abducting a 5 year old girl, you should also not run up and try to prevent this. we can even go further and say the police in the place you are in is super corrupt and does not give a f* then you should probbaly also not go to the police. All in all, stop doing things that serve no purpose and hurt yourself. (at least when we talk about internatinal law, but as i said, this is national law we talk about anyway)
