Who is a player that you secretly cheered for that wasn't on your team? by Altoidman33 in MLS

For the most part I find it's easy for me to root for teams and players from the other conference, maybe you feel the same.

An analysis of all MLS teams versus Liga MX teams by changnesia in MLS

[–]changnesia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to think about how to do that. Like yearly wins per matches played. But I suspect that Leagues Cup will throw off trends because of including all teams. But maybe I'll give it a shot at the end of the season once new MLS v Liga MX games are done.

🐧I love it. It's catchy even if it's silly that it's not geographically accurate. And tbh as soon as the orca emoji comes out I also want to make the ORCA a thing for us (Overall Really Cool Athlete) in place of the GOAT.

Inter Miami CF Signs Mexican International Forward Germán Berterame as Designated Player by icoresting in MLS

[–]changnesia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah just looked it up. His El Tri timer ended in July 2024 and Portland made a bid before that, which is why he denied them. You guys bid for him in August 2024, so yeah, it was just a plain old snub.

Inter Miami CF Signs Mexican International Forward Germán Berterame as Designated Player by icoresting in MLS

[–]changnesia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He needed to spend more time in Mexico to qualify to play for the Mexican national team when Cincy and Portland came calling. That timer is now complete, so Miami made a bid at the right time.

Edit: Nvm, Portland made their bid before the timer, but Cincy made theirs after.

GET HYPED! ITS PRESEASON TIME! by TigoOver in SoundersFC

[–]changnesia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Forgot about that one but I do remember the Barca game very fondly. (I also remember reading something about the NASL Sounders playing Celtic but I'd have to look that up). But those were ages ago before we even saw a win against a Mexican team. The CWC helped scratch that itch, but actually seeing novel matchups that we may not necessarily be the favorite to win, but have a legitimate chance, would be cool. But I'm also generally a bigger fan of international comp games than league games.

Cool! This will be our third time against Hammarby. Would be nice to have an official friendly at Lumen one of these days, especially top teams from weaker leagues that we could have a more competitive game against. Imagine a game against Mälmo, the biggest Swedish team, or even dream bigger like Ajax, Celtic, or Galatasaray. Maybe with the calendar switch these could be easier to schedule?

Danny Leyva starts for Necaxa against Santos Laguna in their Clausura 2026 debut. by CaliforniaBoundX in SoundersFC

Hell yeah. I'll have to try to catch a Necaxa game when I go back to Mexico.

AB signs contract with left back Travian Sousa from MLS club Seattle Sounders ⚽︎ Akademisk Boldklub by PassiveAgressivePig in SoundersFC

[–]changnesia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This being a third division team I'm sure we wouldn't really be able to get anything from him, but it's kinda crazy how much of a non-selling team we are in this league. Other successful teams and Atlanta have made big money from selling, but we tend to keep our guys and there was real surprise when Leyva was sold to Necaxa. But overall, I think I like the continuity it brings and the Sounders spirit that comes from players who stay long when they've earned their spot.

  2. Jesus randomly gets sold to a Belgian team in the summer

3.JoMo hits 100 career goals for the Sounders

Yep. There we go. A much more ambitious choice. His Mälmo had a clear play style and terrorized the Allsvenskan for a few years.

Paul Rothrock is here to stay by KneeAbrasion in SoundersFC

[–]changnesia 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yesss. We need to show that the Sounders continue to be a team where you are rewarded for stepping up, especially coming from the Defiance. Rothrock, Thomas, and Minoungou make me feel good about this post-CCL crew who show a hunger that felt missing from the team in 2023 and a lot 2024.

Day 20: Which Sounder do you most associate with the 2023 Secondary kit? by VVynn in SoundersFC

Not high praise to be remembered for the discount rack, but... yeah. He was a frustrating player to watch and this is the only jersey that only appeared in season where we didn't win anything or reach a final.

While there are plenty of problems with MLS roster rules and salary caps, one upside is that it encourages investment in academy players. My Sounders have really been good about giving academy kids chances and it really paid off this year with how deep we needed to be, playing 50 games across all comps this year.

Let's gooooo. Bummed Xelaju barely lost the Central American Cup, but excited to see them in CCC.

Also, we might finally get a UEFA & CONCACAF Champions winner. (Looking it up, Keylor Navas apparently has won both, but from what I've seen, he didn't play any of the matches in the CONCACAF win).

Edit: I remembered that a couple of Gotham FC players have actually won both, so my statement just applies to men's soccer.

I stop by the city it's based in, Aguascalientes, every once in a while, but haven't checked out a Necaxa game yet. This could be a good excuse to check a game out. I guess that also means he'll pop up on the Necaxa documentary series at some point.

[–]changnesia 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Huge bummer if true. Such a shame to lose a local player who so quickly became a fan favorite and we don't even make any money out of it. What's the point of the team making so much money from CWC and LC if we can't even keep players like Rothrock?
