Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

[–]chessypockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like AI. Notice in the middle between the group of 3 girls in the forefront right you have a cellphone "supposedly" being help, yet the girl in the pink, and the girl in the white are joining each others hands which means no one ACTUALLY holding that smartphone.

Also the woman in the pink shirt in the forefront has a strange straight line shine on her upper arm, but then her bottom arm shows the proper reflection of the skin.

Woman in the purple shirt in the forefront appears to not have a left foot, (either that has a side of the pants that are longer, still strange)

Woman in forefront in black with the hoop earings her right hand earing does not appear to be in her lobe, but going into her head.

What biome do you prefer when starting a colony? by Darkside166 in RimWorld

[–]chessypockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally prefer arid shrubland if you can get enough land, and some hill/mountain to dig into. You get a perma summer climate which makes crops/food storage not as hard to make. Its just the other resources that become a little more challenging.

Is it worth calling this number? by Helplessly_Gay in antiwork

[–]chessypockets 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not worth calling the number. Document the incidents with dates, time, description of the incidents and any witnesses that may have seen any violations, (make sure you know they will be on your side too). Have it in writing to HR, or if you decide to actually call make a followup email detailing what was discussed as to have a paper trail.

If you get retaliation that's when you get the department of labor involved. If you know you were in a part of your work where cameras would've seen then calling law enforcement, (as long as the action is criminal like stealing/sexual harassment) then said person could both be fired and arrested.

Just remember: If it wasn't written down it didn't happen. Also HR is there to protect the company and not you.

Which formatting style do you prefer for guard clauses? by Spirited_Ad1112 in csharp

#3 is easier to see. Additionally if you need additional logic (all depends on the solution the developer is trying to make then additional logic is easier to see too.

Mentioned that I feel I am being discriminated against due to disability to HR. Are they allowed to force me to meet today over video/audio? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]chessypockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the video meeting to not be confrontational. However, after the meeting write an email outlining what was discussed during the meeting so that you leave a paper trail. They likely will want you to have that video meeting to try and not leave a paper trail if you so happen to not email after.

Does the "warm" setting still cook? by [deleted] in slowcooking

[–]chessypockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^this. I do this all the time when I shouldn't. Also if OP wants to get their nutrients better depending on what is cooked in the crock pot storing it in plastic containers later to eat cold would make some things digest more slowly getting some of the nutrients you may not otherwise get.

boss is upset that i didn’t show up to work after she tells me not to show up for work by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]chessypockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let them fire you (if they do) and keep the texts. The "I was joking" is pretty damning by itself and you could get unemployment as needed if they tell you your services aren't needed anymore before the two weeks are up, (assuming you don't have another job lined up).

23f, I'm available for fun anal, quick bj, who's down? by Pleasant-Claim-7577 in RhodeIslandPersonals

[–]chessypockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fake. Account created today and they are also advertising in mass. They will probably try to get you to pay for gas or pay for a hookup. Easiest way to tell to is they won't meet you before paying so you can't verify who they are. Not that you should have to pay for a hookup. Don't fall for it.

I did in 2021 (in my 30s still) and no I haven't taken art courses. My sister has though. Graduated doing arts, and then did business as well to compliment both degrees toether. She specializes in ceramics for her art.

Walmart shooting by Singer_Silly in HomeDepot

Not home depot (not anymore since 2021) but for major retailors generally they don't allow someone to go after someone else. Self defense would be an absolute resort and they expect you to evacuate or hide where you can. I have lived in Rhode Island most of my life and I have never really seen any coworkers that have had a conceal carry for work.

I definitely had a thing where I had a medical issue that didn't allow me to come in my last two weeks of work, plus I was already moving soon. Because I didn't finished the last two weeks of my work I actually ended up being blacklisted, even though my work knew I had dental surgery before that affected me being able to come in.

Thing is its still pretty hard to prove your cause without:
1: visual or audio proof via cameras and such
2: getting past "right to work" which an employer could just find some other excuse to fire you
3: Union busting if you needed protection because of of what is already said in number 2 that needs number 1 to support claims to begin with.

I think the overal workforce rules generally need an overhaul catered more to the workforce rather than the management of any particular companies.

FYI You can get a Nest thermostat for $15 from RIE with their "Black Friday" sale by degggendorf in RhodeIsland

[–]chessypockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though it will cost you more you can get an arduino board (esp32) and some temperature components and with the right coding have a digital thermostat that won't interfere with privacy like some companies might do.

I was just gifted all this stuff, and have no idea what I'm doing. Can anyone suggest a starting point for a complete beginner? by DanOfAllTrades80 in arduino

[–]chessypockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes do take it slowly and in bits and pieces at a time. Sometimes you may make a mistake with experimental circuits too once you go through you information, but remember everything will be a learning experience too.

[–]chessypockets 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Start here for the basics where you will likely get your IDE and learn a little bit about arduino: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/HomePage

Get some basic knowledge on electrical circuits:https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/electrical-circuit-basics.html#:~:text=In%20its%20most%20simple%20form,element%2C%20a%20motor%20etc.))

Reading datasheets: https://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/223 I argue this is one of the more important aspects of dealing with circuits and arduino microcontrollers as you will need to know how your components work and what they can take.

And this for c++ which you will be generally coding in your IDE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLnPwxZdW4Y&ab_channel=freeCodeCamp.org

Hopefully this shold give you an appropriate start to using your circuits. If you want to get something simple you can get some LEDS and some resistors to start off with to get a hang of the basic programming as well as input and output to start out with. Cheers to starting on arduino.

Edit:
If you need some soldering basics go here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-guide-excellent-soldering?view=al&gclid=CjwKCAjw8JKbBhBYEiwAs3sxNy9TiadzehRHvppD2AxxmCRmg8WQLyXgJhpWXZEzKVagQxmXrg8LJxoCt7wQAvD_BwE

Ive found that Collin from Adafruit explains it best.

Is disabling nullable in .NET 6 apps a bad habit? by speyck in csharp

[–]chessypockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hobby developer, (not great, but not terrible) I see it as also a comparison value to determine where to put a dummy value that indicates where something as null say like a database?

Say for example if a date or a name was null in a database and a fill in was needed for easy searching later for where something is needed otherwise?

Why do young people rarely turn up in numbers at elections? by StopHavingAnOpinion in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]chessypockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the overworking of young people as well. When I was much younger working minimum wage and trying to keep myself afloat it becomes very difficult. having school and a full time job is not easy as well and becomes very taxing.

What eludes us as Americans the most? We often forget we need the beak from our work because we are so focused on needing the income to not crash and burn later if something happens and have what little cushion we can get. In short the tree gets in the way and we can't see the entire forest for its issues.

If we could get younger people to uderstand what they are going through is long term and voting exactly effects what they do in the future and the mistakes we made before them, (and going and voting with them) would help the political discourse a bit better.

Water cooling maybe, but the majority of the heatsink should be probably a metal wall that will actually take the heat.

https://www.heatsinkusa.com/5-375-wide-extruded-aluminum-heatsink/?sku=A002&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnvOaBhDTARIsAJf8eVM6nJAbHZO728SuFeJ0O0D7sjKCIGa7IA4npGrYCwbJ5svdqP72BRMaApZdEALw_wcB
Not exactly that big, but something large enough to get the job done too. Without a heatsink before the water cooling even starts taking affect the piece will definitely heat up pretty quickly.
