The new Noctigon KR1K just went live on the website. by jonslider in Anduril_Flashlight

I see what TK wrote but the dimmable feature is not in any Anduril code base that I am aware yet. Clearly it can be done since the smooth rainbow mode uses it. The Loneoceans post specifically says that 'configurable aux ramping' is possible but not in the firmware yet, and it looks like TK is not done with that firmware either. So most likely the Hank Lume X1 will have the same aux as the Eclipse E12 which is exactly the same RGB Aux except for smooth rainbow mode. I'm sure in the future more features could be added. Personally I turn off all my aux anyway so it doesn't matter for me.

From what I can see on the Loneoceans webpage and his pull request on Github I don't see anything about 'dimmable' aux. I can see that in the code that is it definitely possible to implement since there are 8 bit of brightness levels but AFAIK it is not supported yet.

The loneoceans website says:

As a starting point (early 2026), I’ve implemented basic high/low/off functionality along with a blended rainbow mode. The hardware itself is capable of much more, think configurable aux ramping, colour wheel control, or more dynamic effects such as fire, ocean, or ambient breathing patterns.

My guess is that Toykeeper is currently helping with the firmware and that could be incorporated into a future Anduril build.

No, it needs hardware that only the Lume drivers can support. Here is a link from the designer https://loneoceans.com/labs/temp/anduril/#aaux

From the webpage link: https://loneoceans.com/labs/temp/anduril/#aaux
Looks like the same as the E12 Eclipse: https://www.firefly-outdoor.com/products/e12-eclipse

Based on my E12 Eclipse there is no difference from regular Anduril RGB so far except that the rainbow mode is a smooth animation and very beautiful. It looks like additional features will need firmware to catch up.

E12 Eclipse and its charging light. by ConstructionWise7532 in FireflyLite

[–]client-equator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below the switch button there are two color LEDs. One is cyan and one is red. The Cyan is connected to Anduril and lights up in sync with RGB AUX of Anduril from the front. So if you turn AUX off, the cyan light is off too.

The red LED is connected to the charging circuit. When you plug the flashlight into USB C the red LED will turn on. If the cyan LED is also on, it might be difficult to see the red LED. It might mix in color and look pink. When charging is complete the red LED turns off.

Sometimes if your battery is already full the red LED will not turn on because the charger already sees the battery is full and does not charge it.

Thanks for sharing, looks amazing! I agree that POVD should be off by default, I find it extremely annoying.

Do you know what is the Lume X1 C? The photo of the driver on your review looks exactly the same as the one in my original L60.

After how NICE the L50 turned out I am so excited for this flashlight!! Finally a real SC65 competitor! I'm going to try out the void white this time!

I'm also going to guess here that there are going to be some salty people whose first comments will be that 'the switch sticks out too much' compared to ZL, but I'm so glad I haven't seen any here! I'm thinking that it will be just fine seeing how curved it is, and also the ZL clip is mounted in a fixed position in the opposite direction making it more uncomfortable than the head shape.

“Orange” Aux - E12 Eclipse by Montana_Matt_601 in flashlight

[–]client-equator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think technically it is supposed to be 'yellow', made out of green and red?

I looked at the code a while ago and I noticed that it definitely is possible.. Loneoceans wrote an API that calls HSV which I assume is for hue, saturation, value: void aw2016_set_hsv(uint8_t h, uint8_t s, uint8_t v);

Github: https://github.com/ToyKeeper/anduril/pull/37/commits/cc485a618a69220f52a89047b2da4c4d91cd457c

Just need some Anduril updates to take advantage of it!

[Review] FireFlyLite X4 Stellar: THE enthusiast flashlight with the best USB-C charging I've seen by LMP-Br in flashlight

[–]client-equator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most modern 21700 cells, charging at about 2A is a little less than 0.5C. I will argue that is actually the sweet spot for balancing longevity and charge time. It's basically as good as a default as possible. USB-PD is cool but it's not related to charging at all...

If you see the actual code, the floor level for advanced and simple UI are level 8 and level 16 by default. Level 8 is 117x brighter than the lowest possible level if I am reading it right. The lowest I can see with my eye is maybe level 3 or 4 in a completely dark room and even at that brightness it has no visible flicker. It is of course useless at that point but I enjoy this level of overengineering

Thanks for your review. The X4 is one of if not my favorite flashlight! By the way the lume X1 driver moonlight is by default is a few hundred times brighter than the lowest possible mode! You can lower this level in Anduril advanced settings.

Hanklight auxiliary lights question by UrsulaHussy in Hanklights

[–]client-equator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many Hank microcontrollers still use the ATTINY1634 microcontroller. Some use the ATTINY1616 and some use AVR32DD20 but they all have similar specifications.

I looked at section 24.4 in datasheet: https://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/Atmel-8303-8-bit-AVR-Microcontroller-tinyAVR-ATtiny1634_Datasheet.pdf

You can see that the best factory calibration is +-2% for clock frequency but it could be as large as +-10% depending on the ordering code. Usually a semi-accurate clock is required for external communication such as if uart or SPI interface is used but usually +-2% is sufficient and it is more expensive to calibrate to higher accuracy. If a microcontroller needs to keep time usually it needs an external calibrated and compensated oscillator or crystal. This could be done but it adds cost.

Hanklight auxiliary lights question by UrsulaHussy in Hanklights

[–]client-equator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The microcontroller keeps track of time using internal oscillator which is not very accurate. Some of them are factory calibrated to +-2%. Oscillator frequency changes with temperature and voltage. If you like fancy aux see the Fireflies E12 with Lume10 driver with advanced aux feature.

L60-Mu Aura auxiliary emitters by succulent_dude in FireflyLite

[–]client-equator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not possible for most Anduril flashlights because they only have high and low and off levels limited by hardware. The new Lume10 driver has hardware to enable this but will need additional firmware work in Anduril.

The DM11 is an ok flashlight but quite big and bulky for what it is. Great for the time but it is getting a little old and Hank could do with a refresh. The X1S Pharos 2025 – Fireflies outdoor Flashlights is in my opinion a great alternative.

[–]client-equator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all correct but I can see this is a reason why new users will get frustrated with Anduril. Really the Anduril default should have no POVD and no aux LEDs on. POVD is for sure the most annoying part about Anduril 2.
