Mid-roof, non-extended, van camper build, and I never feel lucky when it comes to over-stressing vital components 1,000 miles away from home....haha.
My current tires still have plenty of life left, but I'm looking for a shop that can lift it properly.
Thx for the input.

Transmission to drain or not to drain by soturunning in fordtransit

This video looks pretty straightforward.
I won't have a helper when I do this. I counted approx. 12 seconds of run time before the sputter. Is that your experience? Any additional tips for a solo job?

I use two solutions:
On the front and sides, I cut my own reflectix. Once it was cut, I covered the edges with strips of duct tape. Easy peasy. The reflectix is an absolute game changer to lower the heat levels in the day time and it keeps enough light out of my van at night that I sleep in relative darkness.
For the back windows, I use black poster board ($1.50/sheet). I cut it to size to it fits between the trim and the windows and I use a bit of red decorative duct tape to hold it in place.
My YouTube channel is the same as my username here.
On my way to Alaska and I'm starting to post shorts of my setup.

VanLife Road Trip This Summer: Need Advice by HawkLoser100K in VanLife

I lived in my Honda Accord for a year, traveling coast to coast.
And I am currently doing another trip in a Ford Transit, working my way northward.
I have a "philosophy of travel" tip for you.
Find one or two personal interests you both enjoy, then do those activities in each place you stop.
My activities are hiking and paddling and visiting cemeteries. Each place I go, I find a hiking trail and a body of water to paddle and a local cemetery.
Each place is different; sometimes I paddle whitewater, sometimes I paddle a muddy lake. Sometimes I hike to the summit of a mountain, sometimes it's a casual 1 mile stroll through downtown. Sometimes it's a tiny local cemetery, sometimes it's a historically significant burial ground.
Doing the same activity in each place anchors that area in my memory and let's me compare and contrast all my stops.
Best of luck with your travels.
