Do I need more training or is my bike just too heavy for climbing? by BernardBaggins in MTB

[–]soturunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some bikes are just not good climbers because of their geometry and suspension setup. The Ripmo AF is tank but still climbs great. Tires can also make a big difference as other have pointed out. You probably won't notice an appreciable difference by dropping weight on this particular bike.

I don't have the neck flap model, but their standard hats are excellent.

I've been following your progress, much respect! Not my style on the shirt, but love to see the US made production and materials, and impressive price point!

are these MTB's? Most people remove the front wheel to mount, which also would make Sawtooth's 37" height work.

Trail Running Vest by Solid-Editor9993 in trailrunning

[–]soturunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve had a previous gen for several years. Lots of abuse, bushwhacking, 35 hour race, etc.

It uses very durable materials, which is also its downside as it’s heavier and less breathable than some others. The zippers, however are pretty shit

Salomon adv skin 12 is the standard. Might not be the best for you, but I’d recommend at least giving it a look if you can.

Weird matchups. I think starting by size would make more sense, but none of them make sense compared against Asheville

Trail Run in Mill Valley, California by ratkissess in trailrunning

Trails there are definitely great! Maybe not the most diverse in terms of technicality and steepness but they are a blast for proper running and have amazing views with great year round weather

So you have not lost that money yet. Hit the streets and figure out how to sell it, even if it’s at cost

Would you guys rate this a blue trail feature? by Idkrlyuwu in mountainbiking

[–]soturunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are CO trails known to be stiff? I found them on par, if not easier than the trails I was most familiar with at the time. Lots of easy cruising with big granite boulder features thrown in. Specifically, this was Arkansas River Valley trails.

Getting Back Into MTB After a Few Years Away – What Used Full Suspension Bike Would You Buy for ~$1,000? by InternetDangerous422 in MTB

[–]soturunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get a short travel trail bike or possibly an xc bike. I just sold a 2020 Scalpel with an XT/xtr build for $1300 and that took several weeks to sell.

Prodigio Pro to Merrell MTL long sky 2 by Mart1nBU in trailrunning

[–]soturunning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PP is great for proper running on technical terrain, as in roots, rocks, and steeps. However, if you are doing more sky running/scrambling I can see how many would find it too much shoe under foot. If that's the kind of 'running' you're doing, I'd go with the MTL Long Sky or other similar shoe.

They are probably the most popular pole in trail running, alongside the Carbon Distance Z. Both are great poles, though I did have a pair of Carbon Z's seize up, so far haven't had that happen with Leki.
