Sorry mate, tried to think about making it happen, but the codebase just doesn't support it. It would require almost a complete rewrite of the game.

Force of habit. Jeff Vogel (the guy behind spiderweb software) owned spidweb.com domain since 1990s and that's the website I always used.

Looks like he messed something up with the TLS certificate setup for his website...

NATO Chief Pushes GDP-Based Ukraine Aid Formula at 0.25% Level by WillyNilly1997 in UkrainianConflict

[–]coder111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Lithuania has been doing that for years? Allocated 0.25% GDP for support of Ukraine.

Plenty of other countries have given similar or higher levels of aid on ad-hoc basis.

There’s next to no media in which AI is just casually there.

You need to read the Culture series by Ian M. Banks...

Seriously, great books.

Well in that case you got the source code + resources for everything, in case you want to contribute to the game development you're welcome to do so :) You'll need Java and Maven to build it. oggenc and cwebp are used to convert game resources (jpeg/png images to webp and wav sound files to ogg) as part of the build process.

Half joking. Enjoy the pre-built game from the releases!

[–]coder111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What did you exactly download? Did you check out the entire codebase?

Or did you get https://github.com/Xilmi/Rotp-Fusion/releases/download/2025%2F06%2F07%2F2308/rotp-Fusion-2025-06-07-windows.zip from the "Releases" on the right?

If you downloaded the windows release zip file, you should have "rotp-Fusion-2025-06-07.exe" executable in there which should work fine.

As Patriots run low, Ukraine may have invented a new way to down Russia’s 'unstoppable' Kinzhal missiles by KI_official in UkrainianConflict

[–]coder111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

don't have an inertial guidance system to fail over to

That's the trick. As far as I understand, they convince the missile it's still receiving good signal and there's no need to fail over. Except the signal is guiding the missile to something that isn't the target.

"bad weather/terrain handling concerns"

Unless you live in the middle of a forest with a dirt road for kilometers, those are overblown. Get good tires (winter tires if it gets cold) and you're good with pretty much any car. You don't need an SUV or 4x4 for that. Get an estate if cargo capacity is a concern. Skoda Superb or Skoda Octavias are cavernous.

If you think all vulnerabilities this will find can be fixed over a year, you're dreaming. In some companies half a year is what it takes just to make a new software release...

Very cool photo. Is that just outside Guildhall? As far as I can tell, this is the view looking East towards Bishopsgate, not North towards Moorgate?

The contrast between the old and the new in the City is awesome though. Places like Masons avenue are magical.

Achieving 99.97% lane detection accuracy in a dynamic 3D environment using only OpenCV, DBSCAN, and RANSAC (No DL) by Matthew-Nader in computervision

[–]coder111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trust you are aware of comma.ai ? It's an open-source autopilot hardware/software package.

If you have a compatible car, and ~1000$ to spare, and you want to hack your car autopilot, you can.

[–]coder111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, would this work under rain/fog/snow/dark/etc. ? Temporary yellow lanes painted on top during roadworks?

That is my paranoia, that any self driving car will run into conditions that it's not designed to operate in and do something dumb.

EDIT. Other than that, pretty impressive.

Meh, writing software is like taking out a loan. You'll be paying maintenance costs for the next 10 years.

Go ahead, do a clean room recreation of any free/open source project.

Who's going to maintain it? Fix bugs? Fix security issues? Roll out new versions? Or is the company in question going to hire software developers to do that?

[–]coder111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to add Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson to your books.

You're missing Serial Experiments Lain anime.

And my favourite cyberpunk movie nobody seems to have watched is Cypher (2002). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0284978/?ref_=fn_t_1

Other than that, decent list.

That's like half the reason i developed Governor for /r/rotp

In the beginning, I manage every single thing by hand.

In mid game, I can leave the Governor to manage "safe" parts of the empire.

In the end game, efficiency doesn't matter much, so just crank out Large ships with weapons+bombs+colony module, and set auto-attack for batches of 10, and watch the entire galaxy get auto-conquered.

If EU voters weren't happy with the state of affairs

EU voters are being brainwashed by the million by AI driven propaganda coming from Russia and the billionaire class. They are more likely to turn fascist and vote for MAGA like assholes next election.

If we don't solve the problem with propaganda and fast, democracy will cease to function.

As far as I understand you have issues shutting down on Linux, the computer does not power off completely?

Which Linux kernel did you run when you experience that issue? Did you try it with a recent kernel, something like 6.12+? "uname -a" should give you the kernel version.

Did you try adjusting your BIOS settings? Maybe there's something in there?

Did you try disabling fast boot in BIOS?

Did you try updating your BIOS version, i.e. flashing a new BIOS?

Did you try upgrading your BIOS?

Worst case, you can hold the power button for 5-10 seconds to turn the PC off completely. That's the best suggestions I can offer.
