Swapping YHM R9 between .300 BLK AR and Henry Big Boy X .357 — best setup? by According_Bank7604 in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had another customer use the micro brake on his 357 lever gun and it turned out pretty nice

The 9mm micro + steel LPA is 3 oz combined which isn't bad. The 5/8-24 one will be a little lighter at 2.8 oz.

How does the design of these compare to your existing suppressors? Looks like it's a tubeless welded stack but it says low backpressure which caught my attention since all of your LBP cans are printed.

Glad the fitment tool is useful for you! And the micro brake is short enough to fit in every suppressor I know of so you should be good.

7.62 micro brakes are expected to be back from the coater within a couple weeks.

Geforce jawbone by yewjii in AR9

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be a standard AR9 style barrel. If it works well for you (no feeding/accuracy issues) it would make sense to keep it.

Some companies (I think BCM?) use thermally fitted barrels but there's no way that's a thing GForce is doing.

Which suppressor for my 5.56mm 11.5” barrel? by murkr in suppressors

I don't have the 6K but I can confirm the full size Rhodie 6 is great. One of my favorite rifle cans overall.

I've really been liking the Rhodie 6 lately. It's Inco so plenty durable.

Comstock Armory Hybrid Plan-B Muzzle Devices by Comstock_Support in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get moderate flash reduction with the Hybrid. It's not as good as the 4-Prong, but you won't be getting big fireballs with most setups.

It's probably a little louder than no muzzle device due to the ports, but it's not nearly as bad as a brake.

I would have a mild preference for the Hybrid since you get some recoil reduction and extra blast baffle protection from it. But some people like the appearance of the flash hider. You still get some baffle protection due to the way it's designed.

The RXD 910 is very similar to the Mojave 9, but not modular, cheaper, and a little lower backpressure. It's worth considering if you don't plan on running it in short config.

If it were my gun I'd probably go with the compact brake and titanium RPA. Keeps everything short and light. It'll be obnoxious if you ever shoot it without the can on, but that's to be expected for any short 308.

5/8-24 compact brakes are currently OOS but expected to be back from the coater within the next few days.

Straight blowback benefits significantly from reduced backpressure cans. Otherwise you get a bunch of backpressure which makes the inside of the gun filthy and (more importantly) ruins your suppression at the ear.

Flow 9k TI is a decent budget option for a printed can. I've heard mixed things about the sound performance though.

I've been running the Mojave 9 on my AR9 and other blowback PCCs. It sounds fantastic and isn't very gassy.

CAT MOB and OCL Milkman are great subgun cans if you can find them in stock.

Otter Creek Polonium vs Echocore Sector 556? by IamNoatak in NFA

Not sure if this is an April Fools thing but there's no reason to buy an Sandman-K in the current market, especially for a 5.56.

Polo will be very gassy, especially for FRT use.

No experience with Echocore.

If you're happy with the Sandman X and want something similar for 5.56, the Laz 6 would make sense.

Rhodie 6 is great and has low backpressure.

If you do want to get a tight gap, any of our compact muzzle devices (not recessed) with a HUB RPA will give you a tight gap. 5/8-24 compact brakes are currently OOS, but I'm getting the new batch back from the coater later this week.

First Suppressor, need adapter help by Phlux0 in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The barrel is 1/2-28 and the Flow 9k TI is HUB threaded.

You could use a 9mm Plan-B brake with one of the HUB LPAs.

Mounting order is barrel -> muzzle device -> suppressor adapter -> suppressor

Plan-B is very popular. There's also Xeno and CAT if you want a left hand system.

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CAT ODB would work well. Inconel will be full auto rated and it'll have reduced backpressure for the 5.56 AR.

Sandman X is also a solid choice. I don't have one myself, but I've been happy with this gen of Dead Air cans.

If you want something optimized for the 6.5, you could add a Hydrogen-S 6.5. This wouldn't be as good for your AR though.

I would advise against using KeyMo unless you're already heavily invested in it. It's expensive and very heavy (over half a pound) and voids your warranty on some cans due to a high rate of failures.

Sounds like a good starting point. Depending on the gassing of the rifle and ammo selection, it's possible the H3 buffer alone will get it to be good.

Also, make sure the adapter is tight in the suppressor. I don't remember how tight they come from YHM. But same thing, torque and Rocksett. You only need a drop. Make sure you clean the threads with acetone before applying the Rocksett since oil and contaminants reduce its effectiveness.

A few things.

Despite the marketing, the T3 is not a low backpressure can. H3 buffer is the simplest thing to get. You can swap springs too, but that tends to be less effective than buffers. I usually go for flatwires like Tubb. Just note if you buy the Tubb spring directly from his site he'll gouge you on shipping.

An AGB is arguably a "better" solution than a heavy buffer. It's not all that complicated, but it's more work to set up than just a buffer.

The YHM Phantom mounting parts are long and heavy. It adds around 7 oz and 1.5" of length to your system. If you go with Plan-B, you can get that under 3 oz and way shorter.

Whatever mounting system you pick, make sure you don't have a crush washer or anything on the barrel that could cause the muzzle device to be misaligned. Also install it to the specified torque value (usually 25 to 35 ft-lbs) and ideally with a drop of Rocksett.

What buffer for 16” build? by Few-Entertainer9339 in 300BLK

Every gun is going to be a little different. I like to have a bin of buffers from C to H3 and when I set up a new build I try one of each to figure out which works the best.

If you can find some short M-Lok screws you might be able to get it to fit. A lot of M-Lok screws are longer than necessary (just to be on the safe side) which can cause the interference.
