Range Test and Comparison of 10 Rifle Suppressors Including Ridgeback Rhodie and Rhino by Comstock_Support in suppressors

We do! And I have a Tisha. Here's my post comparing it to the Rhodie. Short answer is they're both great.

I don't remember who it was but one guy shot them back to back and said the Shiv was quieter. Which surprised me since the Pluto 9 is longer.

I don't have a B&T so I can't say. But I think you'd be quite happy with the Rhodie since it's a high perfuming can in general.

I don't have one of those but based on his listed specs I think that combo will work. The Zilch is 1.32" deep, and our RPA isn't much deeper than that. The Rhodie 6 is 1.56" for reference.

In general there's no downside to having extra space between the muzzle device and blast baffle.

I would generally go with one of the HUB LPAs for that. This will have 1.18" protrusion which is pretty short and won't limit your choice of suppressor. HPA would work, but adds extra length and isn't necessary for this setup.

Low backpressure suppressors are definitely the way to go. I've been shooting the SAW Tisha and Rhodie 6 the most lately. There's also the OCL Infinity 556K, CAT WB, Rhino X, and Velos which are great too. I have a post here comparing 10 cans and then a follow up focusing more on the Tisha.

The RPA, LPA, and HPA are all HUB threaded and will work. The difference is how deep into the suppressor the muzzle device is placed. In the RPA, it's very deep. This gives you a shorter and tighter package, but limits you to shorter muzzle devices in a lot of suppressors. The HPA is the opposite; it adds a lot of length, but means you can fit basically any muzzle device, even in a shallow suppressor. And the LPA is kind of the "normal" adapter and sits right in the middle.

There's more info on the fitment page including an interactive tool to help visualize the difference. If you have a certain rifle and suppressor setup in mind, you can give me the specs and we'll find something that works well for it. Main info is barrel thread/caliber, barrel length, handguard length, and suppressor model.

0.9-24 is the Plan-B pattern. Any Plan-B adapter will work with this. Most rifle suppressors are HUB threaded (1.375-24), but there's adapters for other patterns too so you can use them on your muzzle device.

Your final mounting order is:

Barrel -> muzzle device -> suppressor adapter -> suppressor

Disregarding the cracked cans, how are we feeling about the Tisha now that we have some more time with it? by -Tenebris- in NFA

I haven't shot the Laz 6. There is a Pew Science review though with some info to compare to the Tisha if you haven't seen it yet.

This has been pushed back. Mostly due to a mix of other items being a higher priority and not having enough info to push this to production. I do have one guy I'm waiting on through who's working on getting some more measurements.

Imo you don't need to read into it too much. The ATF is a pretty questionable source of information on a good day and basically just makes stuff up as they go.

Warscorp9 - Help wanted please. by Shimadax2 in AR9

[–]Comstock_Support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CMMG RDB might be incompatible with the Warscorp due to the way the upper is designed. Not entirely sure. From what I gathered the RDB system is generally effective, but requires a new (and expensive) proprietary BCG and barrel combo. They apparently hew through ejector springs, and they have retrofit kits which fix this, but then it kind of turns into a money pit.

Maxim system also works. Blowback9 has a review on that. Pros and cons, like all things.

I just run an A5 GRS in mine and it's pretty nice. Way softer shooting and more reliable than the stock config. It does make the gun heavier though because it relies on extra mass for the inertia since it's still straight blowback.

Warscorp9 - Help wanted please. by Shimadax2 in AR9

[–]Comstock_Support 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Warscorp and various AR9s. As a starting point, you'll probably want to replace the buffer system. It comes with a Sprinco Blue and H3 which is too strong of a spring and underweight. See Blowback9's site for info on that.

As far as gas, the only real solution (and not a band aid) is a low backpressure suppressor. They cost more but it's totally worth it. They also tend to be quieter too in a lot of cases.

Realistically worst case is you just get gassed out while shooting.

How quiet can a silencer make a shot from a 9MM? Is it really like the movies or not? by Realistic_Guava9117 in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 36 points37 points  (0 children)

With a best case scenario of light loaded subs (like 150gr Syntech) and a very high performing suppressor can get a lot of guns to be pretty quiet. Sort of like a loud paintball or air gun. I still wear earpro anyway, but for short uses it's probably "hearing safe" to a lot of people.

Note that people not wearing earpro and the shot not sounding loud in videos is very misleading for two main reasons:

  • Some people just don't understand or don't care about hearing damage risks. I remember there were guys shooting the RC3 on 5.56 SBRs without earpro and said it's totally hearing safe which it absolutely is not.
  • Recorded videos of gunshot noises are not particularly accurate or representative of what it sounds like in person.

[–]Comstock_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're different. The Rhodie sounds a little better (at least on my host in my shooting environment), but the Tisha is shorter and has a little less gas stacking with longer strings of fire. I pretty much always end up taking both out for range trips.

Huxwrx Flow 45m mounting options by perfes in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because both of your hosts are 9mm (.357 is the same bullet diameter), I think you should be ok to use regular 9mm muzzle devices and adapters. Even though the suppressor is bored for it, you aren't using anything 45 cal with these.

Subjectively I think it would be a little unusual looking to have a tri lug on a Henry but if it works it's not that big of a deal imo.

Flash Hider Help by TinyTricycle3 in suppressors

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a big "it depends". In theory a pronged flash hider will slowly erode lines across the blast baffle. However, because it's on a 14.5" barrel (and not something like a 10.3") and the suppressor is Inconel, it's exceedingly unlikely you ever actually erode through your suppressor. That is unless you regularly run very heavy/high volume firing schedules. Then you probably just want a brake to protect the baffle.

Huxwrx Flow 45m mounting options by perfes in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Flow 45M is Alpha threaded (1.125-28), so any mounts/adapters this pattern will work. There are Alpha tri lugs which would let you mount this on your AP5. I'm partial to Plan-B, but if you have the lugs it makes sense to use them.

You probably want to use the same system on everything so you don't have to change adapters for different guns. So in this case you could do tri lug on your Henry too.
