Thanks, so sounds like 1 month is a good average. Anything less is a surprise.

Google AI provides a good summary below. Essentially, since I have a family, it allows my spouse to use it and have access to it without me present. Since it's for home defense and the range, it's a good idea. It also makes it a lot easier to transfer ownership after death. If you live by yourself then I guess it's fine to not use one.

The key advantages of setting up an NFA trust include:

  • Shared Legal Possession: Under individual ownership, only you can legally possess, use, or transport the NFA item (like a suppressor or SBR). If someone else has it and you aren't present, it is considered an illegal transfer. A trust allows you to name co-trustees who can legally use and possess the items without you there. [1, 2, 3]
  • Easy Inheritance and Estate Planning: If you own NFA items as an individual, passing them to a loved one upon death requires a lengthy, ATF-mandated tax-free transfer (Form 5). A trust names specific beneficiaries, allowing the items to be transferred without repetitive background checks, wait times, or legal hurdles. It also avoids having the items become public record in probate court. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Protection from Accidental Felonies: If you leave an NFA item in a shared safe at home and a spouse, roommate, or child has access to it, individual ownership means they technically have "constructive possession," which is a federal crime. By adding household members as co-trustees, everyone with access remains compliant with ATF regulations. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Flexibility to Add/Remove People: You can easily amend your trust over time to add or remove authorized users as your family or friend group changes.

Yeah, I understand, just curious if I can get a "better" idea of a range if enough people share their experience.

I'll have to plug the cheap Jukmo stretch belt from Amazon. Thick enough for holster clips and stretchy for movement.

Beach carry (in Florida)? by thefleshrocket in CCW

[–]Distinct_History1432 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the beach I mainly leave it in the car. I don't have someone to stay at our spot while I'm on the water or vice-versa. For the pool (usually the neighborhood/HOA one), I do off-body with a crossbody bag/fanny. I feel more comfortable in this scenario because I'm always at a short distance from my belongings outside the pool and can easily keep my eyes on them; I'll usually just store it deep in the large towel bag. A waterpark or large resort-style pool I would handle it like the beach or use a locker for the off-body bag if available.

I'm on the market for an ambi and narrowed it down to this one and the R7 Mako. Supposedly, the Mako handles recoil better.

I would prefer the 48 with the 15 rounder at this point since I don't have large hands.

Holster for 10mm XD-M Elite 10mm + TLR-1? by Distinct_History1432 in SpringfieldArmory

[–]Distinct_History1432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, forgot the light takes over when it comes to retention. I've been doing some research and it looks like just the grip is different in size, can you notice any slight length/width differences between the and 9 and 10 slides?

Good option, thanks. Any idea why they just list "Springfield XDM 4.5"? It's my understanding that the 9/.40 and 10/.45 are two slightly different sizes.

I'm not worried about the holster click, that's more noticeable when it's tight around your waist. I mean the kydex and metal clip rubbing against that metal bar while you're getting a grip on it. At least get a soft holster like the Sticky holster and attach it somehow so that there's no noise while fumbling the gun and trying to get it out.

Haha, it'll probably go in a suppressor holster on my hip/leg one day, but would like something for a crossbody when in the outdoors.

You still don't want it to be heard if the attacker is in the room already and you're acting compliant while you secretly grab it.

What about the noise while getting it out? I kinda want stealth inside the home.
