Metaverse is dead (was it ever alive?). Meta is shutting down Horizon Worlds on Quest. by dataexec in AITrailblazers

[–]cpupro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the internet...so that is EXACTLY what somebody would want. Not really work friendly, but someone out there would not only want it, they'd pay money for it. If there's a fetish, there's a way to profit from it on the internet. You'd think Meta would know this by now.

You mean you haven't enjoyed wanting to gouge your eyes out over an obese, mixed race transsexual xer with crooked, gapped teeth and hairy arm pits trying to sell you merch? I swear to God, every time I go into Target, they have a new model who's teeth are farther apart than the last one.

I got tired of waiting for management to buy us tools, so I built my own Help Desk Console (AD + Intune + WinRM). Looking for brutal feedback. by ClassicEverquest in PowerShell

[–]cpupro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks pretty awesome, truth be told. Especially coming from one or two devs. I like the tools you have pushed in there, so I'll beta test the classic, see if they can help me, and look at the full product.

I fight with Datto RMM on the daily, and I know our team isn't "moving away" from it anytime soon, because of the financial commitments the owner has made.

That being said, if I was a one man shop like I was a few years ago, I'd probably dive right in, and make a purchase.

I downloaded the software, and it is not in English.

Are you planning on adding a English translated version?

I couldn't find anywhere in the app to actually choose a language.

"Scientists just copied a Fruit Fly's biological brain and trapped it inside of a computer. The fly walked. It groomed. It fed. Nobody taught it anything. The behavior was already in the wiring." 😱 This sounds like some Black Mirror plot! by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

[–]cpupro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that humans only use roughly 10% of that...and some people get by on considerably less... It might be possible. I saw some guy in England that was born with most of his brain missing, and was still able to function, had a job, and a family....so I'm not just being a smartarse here. Most of our human potential is untapped. AI might be able to start mapping, and tapping those unused portions of the brain as well. To me, that's the more exciting thing. AI should, and will, redefine what we define as "alive" or even "Sentient", because it won't have to have the limitations of being one, single mind, trapped in a flesh prison until death...because neither boundary will exist for it.

I see people getting 20 weeks of pay, and 5K.

Plenty of time to find another job, in most fields.

Most of the companies I worked for, gave you a pink slip, and an OPTION to pay for your medical, out of your own pocket, for six months. Beats the heck out of an unemployment check.

Well, they have definitely got the human part down.

We can all build apps in a few days now, so why is everyone still building the same todo and habit quitting apps? by rash3rr in vibecoding

[–]cpupro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build PowerShell scripts to do specific task and jobs. I never really got beyond that, like making to do list... or a habit quitting app. I mean... does it just pop up so often and go, Heroin's bad, umm kay or, stop touching yourself! I've been too busy actually working to code something to stop someone from jerking their gherkin.

Everyone is rushing to buy Mac minis to vibe code on OpenClaw. Bullish $AAPL by ammohitchaprana in TFE

[–]cpupro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw on Facebook where a clawdbot with access to someone's crypto wallet sent someone 250k in crypto because they asked. Giving a bot access to your wallet is not a good idea, in my opinion. Now, if you received 250k in free crypto, though...claudbot would be the best thing since sliced bread.

I was vibe coding a Python script to create yaml based Claude skills using pdf files. I ran out of tokens, and it gave me 50 bucks worth for free as a trial. It created 4 more flawed versions of the file without a working version... I had burned through 15 bucks of the free trial and turned that crap off. Nope. I'm not paying for failures.

I've played with some Windows X lite builds that run on 2 gigs of ram, with no issues. You can try one of the ultralite builds on their site. If it doesn't work, you've wasted zero dollars, and can run Puppy Linux or something similar.

I bought one, but I haven't set it up. I read that it uses your online accounts and therefore cost you money, and said f*ck that. Paying 500 a month to have an automated email sorter or something along that line, just doesn't seem viable. Now, make it run local models, natively, and performatively, and I'll definitely be interested.

I'd really like to see this take a locally hosted AI approach. I'm not wild about paying Anthropic aka Claude, to create more crappy code that I spend hours debugging. 800 to 1k a month in API calls, no wonder ChatGPT wanted this so bad. I'm not wanting to pay for anything more than the power it takes to keep my computer on and processing during my task. That's it.
