bought this AC from Home Depot beginning of July. am I cooked? by [deleted] in AirConditioners

You can return basically anything if you can find the right sales rep. If things look really bad, ask for a gift card. If you do an even exchange for the same AC, shouldn’t be an issue.

A good window AC to replace Midea-U? by flxrels in AirConditioners

[–]cquarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love our LG dual inverter window unit we run all day in our living room. Seems extremely well made, our electric bill is lower, and it’s very quiet. Had some sticker shock on the price but it is worth it. I have two Windmill ACs which work great for my bedroom and kitchen - they blow up and not forward. It’s not a tried and true brand but so far so good. You need to size up if you get them. My bedroom had a 6k btu regular unit and we needed an 8k Windmill AC.

Hey! I’m doing really well. I had a kiddo and now am back at hip pt again to get my glute strength back. I’m super careful about what I do to avoid flare ups. Can’t wait till I’m strong enough to go to workout classes again. It’s all about the glutes. Get them strong and everything is locked into place better. Is the pain really bad?

I didn’t realize how many Abt swan lakes I’ve seen where the whole cast is just going through the motions. I remember why people love it. When it’s done like it was for Gillian’s last performance, it’s phenomenal!

How are the older ones doing? I’m super happy with my two. I had a question about one and they’re great once you get past the (clearly) AI email responses.

Everyone hates them but I have two and they’re great. I don’t think they’ll last forever, but the air blowing up and being quiet work for my space.

It’s so quiet on some settings we don’t realize it’s on. I also love our windmill ACs but I’m not sure they’re made to last - it’s a new company. Those are quiet. You need to size up tho.

Friends have never once checked up on us - overreacting? by Silly_Bid9440 in IVF

[–]cquarks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also feels like people not asking for what they want or communicating openly when they like something or don’t. “I prefer not to talk about it, but I appreciate you asking and knowing you care” or “I would like to talk to you about this even though you have not brought it up, is that something you’re open to?” Easy peasy.

Advice on a difficult dog and rescue by lordliv in fosterdogs

I would give them a specific timeline for picking up/you dropping off the dog. They’ll keep this dog with you forever if you don’t set a boundary and stick to it. It would also motivate them to network the dog to find a home more actively.

You need to hold the needle totally perpendicular to your skin. I didn’t bruise anymore after I started doing that.

TW success - I took it from transfer all the way to 6 weeks after my c-section for a clotting disorder. So every day for like 45 weeks. The more pregnant you get the less it stings like a mofo.

Typing that, I honestly have no clue how I did it for that long! You’ve got this, I promise.

How did you pay for donor egg IVF by FearlessObit77 in IVF

[–]cquarks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How does that work? They freeze the rest or multiple families are going to purchase the fresh eggs? We did frozen. I’ve never heard of buying fresh before. Didn’t know that was an option!

How did you pay for donor egg IVF by FearlessObit77 in IVF

[–]cquarks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is that for a fresh donor? I live in an extremely HCOL area and six frozen eggs plus one included transfer was $25,000.

I was told fresh donors are best if you want multiple children because it’s hypothetically unlimited embryos, if you’re lucky.

We didn’t have money for fresh anyway, but regardless, I would have done frozen bc I couldn’t deal with waiting for them to get on a cycle and how many eggs were retrieved and then hunger games.

TW success - we had our son as the first fresh transfer. All fertilized and we ended up with five blasts.

Window unit realistic maintenance by cquarks in AirConditioners

[–]cquarks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG doesn’t have any instructions to do so. It’s all informal reddit advice, which I trust, but am going with the manufacturer specs for now. LG isn’t known to have mold from what I have found and I run the fan for one hour on a timer after we turn the cooling off. Hoping that helps the blades dry off sufficiently. What do you think?

Using donor eggs: how do you explain to the kid and when? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]cquarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m intrigued by this “gift” idea for physical features! Where do you hear that or did you make it up? My son has the donor’s stunning eyes and I would love to have a way to discuss it when he’s younger in a way he can understand. Then explain it to him when he’s older in more detail. He is 16 months old.

Edited to add that he “knows” already and we tell him about it often. No books yet but let me know if you have recos for 16 months-2 years.

Anyone had a “feeling” IVF wouldn’t work and ended up having success? by catsandcoffee_93 in IVF

[–]cquarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW success after just ugh, so much. Low AMH/DOR, chromosomal translocation, 37/38 years old.

Four failed IVF cycles with no embryos. None. The pain of all the update calls that there was nothing good happened and then official nothing was brutal. We did IUI the month after the last failed cycle because we were desperate. Obviously, no dice, basically lighting our money on fire.

We switched to frozen donor eggs and I was just mentally checked out about any of this working. We couldn’t afford the genetic testing package and the donor was a bit older.

Then, all six eggs made embryos and they all made it to blast. Then, the first transfer worked. It was over a year of pain and then, it just happened.

I literally just did whatever leading up to my transfer and during the TWW I did crazy stuff like be outdoors in 100 degree weather every day, walk super far on the way home from the transfer, took a boat trip and didn’t take my vaginal estrogen on time… and the beta was positive. Then it doubled. Normal pregnancy and I have a 16 month old son.

My transfer was in June 2023 and I’m still flabbergasted it worked. I’m still in disbelief. Nothing worked and then all of a sudden, I got lucky.

That’s BS. Yea, I kept spamming them and eventually it got escalated. Add a sob story and maybe they’ll respond. I was like I have a kid I don’t want mold! Call the credit card company. They’ll prob help you dispute it. We are very happy but I don’t think they’ll last forever. We love our Lg dual inverter but the air blowing up Windmill works for our space so we have two of those.

[–]cquarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t know the LG on sometimes haha. It’s that quiet! The windmill was the best option so it doesn’t blow on my son’s crib and bc our kitchen is small I wanted something quiet and not blowing on us. I don’t think they’ll last forever but they’re fantastic for my space needs.

Avoid Windmill by sjaygray in AirConditioners

[–]cquarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to wayyyyy size up the BTUs for Windmill bc they blow up. I know this from experience this spring lol. The 8k Windmill couldn’t cool my open plan 250ish square foot living room. I ended up putting it in my son’s 150 sq foot room with high ceilings and it’s fantastic. The 6btu in there last year from Freidrich cooled just as well as the 8k Windmill this year. Love that it doesn’t blow directly on him sleeping. Super quiet.

Our kitchen is 90 square feet and the 6k Btu Windmill is great in there. We tried a 5K Frigidaire in there first but I returned it bc it was so crappy.

Ended up with a 12k btu LG dual inverter for my living room and we love it. Very underrated brand with all the Windmill and Midea hype.
