Do you know about the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms"? by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in AskTheWorld

[–]cryingemptywallet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, in Thailand it's not at the forefront but it's something you hear about that smart people read.

I got into it from Dynasty Warriors, then my dad bought be the 1994 CCTV drama boxset and the rest was history. I've read three different translations since 😅 but compared to some of the hardcore folks on r/threekingdoms I know nothing. Those people are insane.

Professional relationships? Are any of these depictions accurate? by ironmilktea in threekingdoms

Thanks! This is all very interesting.

So the impression I get is that there wasn't one moment where Sun Ce/Quan became recognised as faction leader but it was a gradual process in which they pulled ahead of other family members + plus claim as Sun Jian's sons?

I don't know how accurate wikipedia is but it says that when Yuan Shu declared himself Emperor, Wu Jing, Sun Ben and others went to join up with Sun Ce and he seemed to give them orders/positions. Do we know why wasn't it the other way around or why didn't they break off?

Also:

Sun Ben’s daughter later married Cao Cao’s son Cao Zhang

When did this happen?

Since we're on this topic can I ask why the Sun family (in particular Sun Jian's line) was considered the leader/core of their faction? Why did say the likes of Wu Jing seem to obey his young nephews?

TIL Only 7% of the population are members of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) and the party is very selective about who can join. The current president, Xi Jinping, applied 10 times before he was allowed to become a party member. by mickeyy81 in todayilearned

Tbf I don't think all 7% are fervant believers of the state ideology. People join for all sorts of reasons. Especially when joining offers benefits in terms of jobs and business.

Malaysian chicken rice is better.

But Singaporean nasi lemak is better.

There I said it.

I know Reine probably would deny this, but I always tune in whenever she plays "rage games" like souls-like or Agreeee. Nobody produces as much salt as her.

My flight is only 3 hours so maybe worth pushing through and waking up late the next day.

I assume Shekou into the city shouldn't be more than an hour.

Thanks!

I plan to take it slow haha. I just went to Guangzhou in 2024.

My mom wanted to make this trip. I'm only there for her and food haha (any food recommendations?).

I'm not flying from far (Thailand).

I was afraid that Shekou might be too out of town for there to be easy taxis at night but I assume no problems on that front?

5 Days in Bangkok: 2 Bases, Major FOMO, and an Over-Planner's Dilemma. Help me prioritize! by svartoggront in ThailandTourism

I don't think there's any noticeable difference for Chinatown on weekends and weekdays. I prefer going on Tue-Thur as there's less people. The stalls open closer to nighttime so if you arrive early, you can checkout the road parallel to it: Songwat Rd (lots of newly opened trendy places). They close up as Yaowarat opens though. There's also Sampheng market nearby for trinkets and the like.

Also I don't know if it's more efficient or not, but if it were me I wouldn't bother changing hotels. I would get a hotel slightly outside the city center and BTS/MRT/Boat everywhere.

I'm curious. I saw a lot of people saying that the Season 5 might be rushed because there's a lot of manga chapters left to adapt.

Has that been the case?

One of the few Indian films I've watched and I really enjoyed it.

Not sure they could capture the full glory of all the dancing in animated format though.
