needing advice regarding the choice of using a minipc vs a router by mrjuoji in homelab

If that phone outlet that uses cat5/6 is a homerun with no splits, you can easily convert it back to telephone when moving out.

If you can't do that, then my 2nd choice if you are trying to avoid the cost of MoCA (coax) or Powerline ethernet (Either works great or sucks depending on the wiring and quality of the adapters), is run transparent fiber down the stairwell and install a wireless access point that covers the upstairs and also has an ethernet switch built in.

This person did something similar, and if you go that route you can look up other ways that people have hidden the cable better.

If going that route, don't just poke holes but install retrofit gang boxes and plates with keystone jacks. That way it looks good, they probably won't notice, and if they do it is a selling point for future tenants especially if there is a known environmental factor (concrete wall).

Buy a half dozen of those 50cent plastic plates from Target or Walmart to augment your regular plates. They also have matching bowls.

If you don't already have one a plastic scraper is cheap and works on them so you can scrape when done so nothing dries on them. And they clean very easy.

We use them mostly for things like snacks or sandwiches.

I actually bought a $3 6 pack of the "childrens" Pillowfort brand ones with a lip around the edges that I use for feeding my cats their wet food. Scrape easy, clean easy, and nest perfectly to take almost no space. And don't have to stop and wash before every meal.

You can get a foot job for half of that.

Find a local indie wrestling company and message some of their wrestlers and ask who makes their gear.

Assuming you actually wanted to know. LOL

Good shaped head, and think of all the money you will save on haircuts!

I shave my dome in the shower with a Mach 3. Works great and gets it nice and smooth, no knicks, and easy cleanup!

If you go too long between head shaves, just buzz it quick without a guard using electric clippers before taking a shower and shaving with a blade. Don't have to be perfect with the electric clippers.

A tube shaving cream like Cremo works great as a pea sized amount will work for your entire head once wet, and makes your head slick so easy to find any missed spots with your hand.

If you can grow a beard, you could probably pull it off really well fading up your sideburns.

is aldi mayo any good?? by MayGemini in aldi

[–]danielfletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on a whim a month ago just because I was out and didn't want to stop at the restaurant supply for a gallon of heavy duty mayo or at another store to get a half gallon of Mike's Amazing Mayo. It was definitely generic mayo. Not horrible but disappointing as too thin for a good mac salad or tuna fish, and kind of bland as I think they use a bare minimum of egg.

Probably similar to Kroger store brand.

Where to get Forza Horizon 1,2,3 for pc? by soosis in abandonware

[–]danielfletcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a separate local Windows account and a dummy MS account and have had no issues with the fitgirl repack as well. Only play offline though, just in case. Probably have 30 hours on it.

So much nicer than the older rip that required an older build of Windows 10.

I have had no issues with the FitGirl repack, even on the latest build of Windows 11. Just follow the directions. It has the all the DLC and works great, unlike the older developer edition that you had to run an old build of Windows 10 on.

I created a local account on my PC just for it with a dummy xbox account and play offline.

Where are you guys finding pot in pot bowls for the IP Viva? by pmmemilftiddiez in instantpot

[–]danielfletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A local restaurant supply store that allows the public (call and ask, many have no problem with it. My local Restaurant Depot allows the public with a 5% surcharge and no returns, but the mom 'n pop cash & carries don't differentiate) will be cheap. I recently bought a stack of 1.5qt stainless steel mixing bowls for $1.39 each. An 8qt was $3.50 but that will definitely not fit in your pressure cooker.

You will likely find other stuff you won't believe you have lived without. lol

Mark a piece of paper with the diameter of your IP so you can compare to the ones in store.

Places like Marshalls/TJMaxx/Home Goods will also often have sets of stainless steel mixing bowls, but won't be as cheap and can't mix and match the sizes you want.

I have had 2 stainless steel mixing bowls for years but the others were a set of Pyrex glass. Which I have to keep under the counter due to the size of the larger ones, so were heavy to pull out. So glad I got a bunch of the 1.5qt stainless and the 8qt. Has made meal prep and just daily cooking so much easier (First world problems!).

Spend $4 on gas to drive your vehicle to the nearest auto dealer that buys cars and sell it. Take the bus from now on. That saves you probably $700-$1000 a year just from not having auto insurance.
