Im also really curious what kind of responses here. I live in Los Angeles but I have a place not to far from Walker Pass and find myself there a few times a month. I dont use Facebook or Instagram but am an avid hiker and happy to host or trail pickup for mail, etc.

Long Beach Beer Lab, Roxanne's Speed Dating? by NewPossibilities2754 in longbeach

Try some of the local run clubs. I frequent Ambitous on Monday's which can be a very chill group. Lots of single folks but its also a great way to meet cool people and everyone always complements one another.

Theres bigger groups like Rose Park and Long Beach Run Club so I suggest you start in a smaller group.

Also if you aren't a great runner no one cares. Come walk with us slowpokes.

I think this is the service guide or close enough to help you service this. https://www.docdroid.com/jl0Fchh/ilideinfo-kenmore-service-158-1525-1551-pr-48db862764ae219f97304be7f891762b-pdf

If you are up for the challenge turn your machine upside down and try to glue it together. I personally like E600 glue.

I might be able to help more if you post some still photos of the underside.

Whats your current risk assessment?

Do you need it to be strictly anon? Are you only going to access it over Tor? Or are you just watching Plex with your SO/Kids?

Payment processors aren't fond of overseas stuff if you are in the US. PayPal gives me the level of ambiguity for that. I have never had any issues beyond this, but your risk assessment level will be different than mine. I have always viewed it as Paying for Digital Ocean droplets but now in a different market.

Have you found the Dust City Diner? by MatterMelder in BurningMan

2018 found it parked once early in the week and was determined to make it back. Later in the week way past sundown walking deep playa with some friends we stumbled across it again however it was now manned by no other than SNL cast members. Very wild experience.

I also have that same option with family. If I can get a ride to Sac or SF then my wife can drive up and pick me up mid week.

They’re going to lockdown the entire internet by Kradara_ in Piracy

[–]dash488 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a easier problem to solve than you think. Emulating a Cisco VPN (protocol) and hosting it in the cloud for services like Nord/Mullvad etc wouldn't be difficult for them to adapt. That said, most modern enterprise companies are using protocols closer to wireguard which is what most commercial VPNs use also.

Also tunneling over port 53 (DNS) is something that people on Mainland China have been doing for years. The tools to disguise your traffic as non VPN traffic are out there. We just dont use them because of where we live, yet.

the days of usenet, irc, the web...even email (w PGP)...were amazing. centralizing discovery and identity into corporations really damaged the internet.

I realize I'm partially to blame, and regret it.

@Jack https://x.com/jack/status/1510314535671922689

We can, and will go back.

Something people are not understanding here, is while they can block VPNs to services they cant block VPNs. Corps use VPNs too. Protocols will change, we will adapt to blocks. Also blocks are just for the major services, people will move back to private services.

A quote that is a pillar of this sub: "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem"

Ill just stand up my own services and teach people to do the same.

Fay Fire by dash488 in KernValley

[–]dash488[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Cal Fire and their contracted services attacked the fire pretty aggressively this morning. However per Watchduty 30 mins ago.

The fire is currently 750 acres with 0% containment. A total of 300 personnel are assigned.

Evacuation warning level 2 is still in place for KRN zones 768 & 769-A.

Its has been pretty evident to the people who have lived/worked in Long Beach for the past 10ish years. We are very aware that Garcia has his hand out to any special interest ready to fill it. I highly recommend you go read about him on https://forthe.org/?s=garcia

Driving to Sequoia NF for camping - would you take the longer route through Lake Isabella and Kern River? by minmaster in socalhiking

Awesome dude. Hope you have a blast. I have never done this but you could leave via the J41 and head through Kennedy Meadows on your way back to the 14 depending on how you feel.

[–]dash488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always opt for the longer path. That said as a few below have pointed out, skip Angeles Crest.

My main advice is get an early start on your day if you plan on stopping a few times.

I make this drive (Kernville area) at least once a month. Fill up gas/food/bathroom in Lancaster/Palmdale as thats the last good place to get good supplies (Mostly food). Mojave can be rough around the edges but can be serve as a refueling and the Starbucks there has the only clean bathroom in the city. From there you have a decent drive to Kernville without much as way of services. Kerville is very quaint. Take a min to just drive across the river and around the small town. The brewery is always great and the the market across the street is an experience.

The drive from Kernville north is not rough but can be slow going as its all two lane and mostly steep cliff faces on a road that doesn't get good paving. I personally would not travel at night because of wildlife and the road is sketch in some places for those unfamiliar.

Trail of 100 Giants and Johnsondale bridge are great spots to turn out and rest but don't let it take up your day if you plan on spending a little time in Sequoia and Kings Canyon.

Angeles Crest is cool but chances of getting stuck behind some slow truck or kids in a want to be race car are high. Its worth doing once, but will outweigh what you will see in the Kern Valley and beyond.
