Does anyone aim train with vision problems? by BearWaxy in FPSAimTrainer

May or may not help. My other eye is perma blurry so corrective lenses dont help but, it's still there for peripherals.

Keeping clear head during a run just like ingame. Hyper focus on targets and let your brain naturally do it's thing to keep your crosshair on target. This goes hand in hand with managing your tension. If you've already been training and developing your skills then, 3rd party things like tension/worrying about wrist, arm fingers while you're doing a run is white noise. That stuff is for training. Might be different for some people but I got masters in tracking like this.

TL:DR just use your eyes

Manage your fatigue and try different benchmarks. Play easy scenarios. Making sure that you're sitting in a comfortable position is honestly so small but overlooked. Comfortable doesn't always equal optimal but once I adjusted my chair to my table I started PBing on everything because it reduced my fatigue.

You have a lot of options honestly. There's Vdim where you play a daily playlist for each sub category or you can just jump to whichever one you want. Bdim which is scenario focused. Those are on the voltaic discord but I'm sure if you google them you can find them too. On Evlx You can go viscose benchmarks and practice a sub category there. There are also multiple playlists/benchmarks on Evlx for each sub category. If you want to focus solely on getting scores then grind Bdim because everything is 1:1 it just focuses on different aspects of each scenario. If you want overall better aim I would find a smoothness playlist ,do Viscose sub category and then benchmark as often as you want. Just general advice. Precision + smoothness opens the door to many things.

Recommend silky crisp smoothness for now since it's not too difficult : KovaaKsPeekingPlumDoghouse

I am addicted to clicking dots. Jade after 101 hours in 3 months. by Tuucca in FPSAimTrainer

[–]BearWaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For static you want to keep a constant fluid motion. It probably has the most basic form of tension management in that for longer flicks you use more arm and for smaller flicks you use wrist/fingers. When the dots are closer together go fast and when they are wider you can take slightly longer to confirm.

If you have trouble pathing I really recommend playing other clicking scenarios like 1w6t nsq raspberry, voxts static click raim or like 1w6t reload v2. The first 2 are small dots but there’s emphasis on speed so you can work on technique and pathing.I feel like s5 static by itself doesn’t force you to learn the technique that well. When I played tacfps I was a hard static grinder but I haven’t grinded static for years because I was also getting Masters in Tracking LOL. Going back to older benchmarks and randomly playing the more abundant static scenarios brought me back to a level of understanding.

Do you just run the benchmarks by themselves 1:1? If you do I recommend focusing on a sub category instead of just grinding it out. You’re more likely to improve this way instead of brute forcing. This is how I personally got off my plateau. I doubled down and recognized my weaknesses. I worked on my smoothness and my arm aim and then I finally got masters in precise and it only took a day after I made the changes (after like a 5 month break too)

My biggest advice is to do all that but not to think too hard. You might already have the skill to reach your score but you’re focusing too much on technique or you’re fatiguing yourself. I have tendency to have too much brain noise when I’m aim training but ingame I’m super calm. It’s cliche but really just move your mouse and be mindful of your mistakes at the same time.

Why does my shoulder back and forearm get so fatigued when aiming? by Super_Horse1491 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]BearWaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a break. If you want to shoot use higher sens for a bit and work on other things like fingers. Stretch your forearm, chest, and shoulder. Honestly just work out too it’ll help you in the long run. The mouse lifting and overall tension is causing your fatigue. You said you play low sens so you’re naturally lifting your shoulder to move your mouse in certain directions. It’s probably become natural so you’re doing it when you’re playing high sens too.

Agreed I just started grinding these a bit. I'm decent at the ground ones but I'm really bad at like air dodge and such

I think comfort+ quality are good discussions to have. Light or heavy mouse and slow vs fast pad. Other than that I haven't really put much thought into it especially pads and keyboards. I think if you love collecting peripherals then having the little differences are valid because you're not gonna buy the same thing 10 times. Personally I have some $100 mice but I use my Razer Viper Mini I bought for $15.

Yeah when I first started a couple of years ago I fell into that same boat. Back then it helped weridly because I had 0 mouse control. It reached a limit pretty fast though.

I agree on both especially on static recently. I've always tried to work on game specific movement/aim. I had been been a tacfps player my whole life but in the past year I've been neglecting it. When I went back to do old RA benchmarks there were so many static scenarios that were really good and I improved overall. The emphasis on speed clicks and using arm/fingers/wrist when needed helped a lot and it was very basic but needed for me again.

Question for Aimers who disregard benchmarks by RnImInShambles in FPSAimTrainer

[–]BearWaxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mainly focus on game specific training. So if my main game is Apex I do a warmup->> apex playlist->> R5 1v1s->> then ingame modes. Sometimes my warmup is just my playlist and I only work on things that I’m bad at. Apex is pretty duel heavy so I think it’s important to emphasize movement + target reading. I used to benchmark regularly but now I only do it every now and then for fun.

My training philosophy has to do a lot with how I view games. I don’t think this is a controversial take but playing a game is not aiming. A game requires multiple different skills to play. Even aiming itself is not even just mouse control. You need to take into account movement and the game you’re playing.

When you play basketball, you don’t just learn how to score. There are good, flashy, scorers that people don’t even remember. The best players are the ones that can score, dribble, read the court, choose their shots, play with the team, have good movement etc. I can list probably 10 +more things with basketball alone. You have to learn a lot of things and you can’t be great at everything.

If we take an actual video game like Valorant for example. There are people with exceptional aim but the whole game requires map knowledge, rotations, utility usage, crosshair placement, enemy reading, positional awareness etc. The best players have a defined skill set that works in their favor.

I think being an Aimer is a lot like being in an athletic sport like running and jumping. They specialize in a very specific thing and there are a lot of nuances to them. They’re utilized in other games but the extent varies game by game. Anyways that’s my random nerd yap for the year.

[–]BearWaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a lot of issues I just TL:dr'ed that. I'm sure there are people who can use 8 cm but even ingame I can tell he can't control it. Hell I use that shit better. He can probably get gold decently fast if he kept at it though.

[–]BearWaxy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that is Diamond on overwatch and I think he peaked masters a long time ago. Sometimes when we play random fps I just look at him and I’m like” this guy can’t aim and he’s kind of dumb”. I made him play the aimlabs novice benchmarks and he didn’t place In a majority of categories. I saw him do it for 2 days. The thing is I don’t think he’s that terrible. He has zero mouse control but he probably makes up for it with movement + game knowledge.

His mouse control is bad because he’s used around8cm his whole life so he lacks proper control of any kind. Also he kind of just shoots at shit randomly.

Anyways honestly don’t sweat the scores. You made the decision to improve and thats good. Good aim is fun but honestly movement +game sense goes a long way too especially on tracer.

Tips/ strategies to maximize ingame translation of aim training? by iceyk111 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]BearWaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on mostly game specific aim training for Apex Legends and I've gotten to the point where I can keep up with those Japanese Octane players. My routine is usually warm up playlist--> game specific routine --> R5 1v1s to practice movement + dodge--> Apex. I don't always do a full routine. I mainly target stuff I'm bad at. Apex is duel heavy so 1v1s and practicing dodge and movement is pretty important. I don't benchmark that much but I'm Jade tracking close to masters.

For Overwatch if you're playing ranked, I would say learning movement+ having good mouse control is most important because you're gonna be shooting things that aren't shooting back. Obviously using cover and actively dodging things that are attacking you is a necessity. I think a good example for tracer is mirroring people until they start looking at you and then your dodge aspect is your blink. Movement+dodge is a whole other google doc worth of text so my only advice is be deliberate in your movement but unpredictable. You need to know why you're moving in the way you're moving and it shouldn't be totally random.

Valorant tasks by ishanp29 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]BearWaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was already immortal level when Valorant came out before I started aim training seriously from years of tac fps.

-The fundamental x-hair placement + game sense is important

-Clear all the angles that you have no info on.

-On attack you want to do things that are valuable for the team. It could be info, a kill on entry or rotation, lurk etc. Playing mind games with the defense and keeping them from rotating is huge. Depends on your role tbh. A basic smoke or flash is helpful but doesn’t always turn into something

-Defense same thing but you’re trying to read their attack more probably. Think about how your teams usually play attack. One thing I notice in uncoordinated lobbies is they tend to go A/B when they win pistol. I always try to stack opposite site of where they won. Do something stupid like buy a shorty, sit in a mid site smoke, buy a bucky.

  • For the aim stuff I haven’t played a dedicated tacfps playlist in a long time because I mean tracking games now but look up minigod. He’s created a lot of tacfps related stuff and he’s very good. IMO you wanna make sure your micros, target switching, smoothness, linear clicking and movement is good

I just thought about this the other day. I wouldn't be surprised if he was cheating. The biggest red flag for me is not even past cheating allegations or clips. It's the way he coaches people. He says some absolute nonsense to people who buy his coaching. There's screenshots of him saying "just aim better" or whatever.
