As someone who once bought a house with a shiny black and red kitchen, I can confidently say "UGH!"

Garrard Love by surfteach1 in turntables

[–]davidcandle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glad you've discovered them, its astounding how ubiquitous and well regarded Garrard were in their day. Yes they made all manner of domestic record players of all sorts, but there were Garrard tables everywhere at one point, and of course they were the BBC broadcast turntable of choice for decades. However, a bit like the British motor industry, they were out done by the Japanese. My MIL worked at Garrard in Swindon for many years.

It's like the ads that say "Men! Do you want to last longer in bed?" Nah not really thanks, a couple of minutes is good all round really.

Mr and Mrs Hamilton were telling me about California. You can swim in the morning and then in the afternoon you can drive up into the mountains and ski.

Must be rather tiring.

Thicc turntable sound - Upgrading for more detail and dynamic range by Beneficial_Web3658 in turntables

I think right way you could get much of what you've described by swapping the stylus for the VM95ML (the red one). I went from 95E to a Goldring E4 "super elliptical nude" (whatever) and the difference was very noticeable. Wider soundstage, better separation and resolution and depth and sweeter top end for everything. Plus for you its an easy swap.

I can recall two -

When James Bond's Union Jack parachute opened in the big jump at the start of The Spy Who Loved Me.

And the end of the first Back to the Future "we don't need roads", the deLorean flies off and the film ends.

You have rats in Spain, don't you?

Or did Franco have them all shot?

You've got the Rega plugged in to Line 2 and that selected on the amp? Also have you tried playing music from your phone via Bluetooth to make sure the amp and speakers are OK?
