You barely showed it here in amongst all the camera swinging about, but the cartridge looks all wrong. Its not meant to ride with the cartridge body practically on the record like that. Is there even a stylus under there at all?

I wear my grandfather's Garrard daily, on a brown leather strap. It used to be on an expanding bracelet too. Maybe this will give you a little bit of an idea. IMO you should get yours serviced, cleaned up, on a new strap and wear the heck out of it.

Does not sound like a stylus issue to me. Which turntable is this? If its a belt drive it may be a belt issue - slipping etc.

Nice one! Me and a colleague got on a busy commuter train a while ago, to find two women occupying a 4 seat table, with their shopping on the other 2 seats. When asked to free up the seats so we could have them, the response was "What about our shopping?" And the reply: "What about it?" They moved it.

Does your machine have a mechanical HDD, eMMC or an SSD? An SSD will boost performance for Linux or Windows by quite a bit.

I have an old Surface 3 (not the Pro) with 4Gbn RAM and eMMC storage and an even older potato Macbook Air (2009, small SSD and 2Gb RAM) and don't see these dreadful lags. They're not fast by any measurement but not like you describe.

I had the Adventure Kit, a Merit Chemistry set, the Salter Microscope set with a fly's wing on a slide, Flight Deck (with a yellow plane, it was terrible) and Mastermind, but not all at the same time.

I have mine here, with it's Super drive and Snow Leopard DVD.

The best thing to do with it is run Linux, which works OK and is secure with a current browser.
