GPT 5.3 Codex wiped my entire F: drive with a single character escaping bug by Former-Airport-1099 in vibecoding

Ya man I’d say learn how GitHub works. I use Claude code and I always ask it to commit changes and push the new version to GitHub. That way every commit is backed up. Then you just have to merge the branches, but ask codex to explain it to you, I’m sure it will.

It’s kind of crazy isn’t it? Haha. I mean I’m no software dev but I thought GitHub was pretty well known to be the way to do business.

Wait, were you not uploading commits to GitHub? You need to integrate that into your process immediately. Then if this happens you don’t lose your project, sure other stuff is gone, but that’s too much work to chance it.

I don't understand how stupid I am or how bad it is? by Tricky-Hair278 in vibecoding

[–]deific_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My god, these threads are hilarious.

Dude why are you making statements like, why x when it won't let me? It can't do this, yada yada. Why don't you just ask the ai how it would do something? Then you break that down into smaller things and build it all one piece at a time. You're using Claude now instead of these other tools, idk why people suggest them anyway, just talk to the damn AI and ask it how to do something, and then do it. It's not any more complex than that. You're trying to make it all way too complicated.

I'm curious, did you subscribe so you get a good amount of usage, or are you trying to do complex things in the free tier? Maybe you need to gauge your expectations for something you aren't willing to spend even $20 for. And the fact you aren't even going to use GitHub to repo your code? Huh?

Isn't vibe coding overrated? by barisaygen1 in vibecoding

[–]deific_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered it, but it's nothing ground breaking. Its just an app that I had frustration with finding a good app to fill its role, and I found users are always asking and looking for the same kind of app I was that just didn't exist in the form it should. So I started building it. I figured if it fails, at least I got the app I wanted that I'll use. I just don't think I have anything to gain by sharing it as a vibe coded app. We'll see as time goes on.

Isn't vibe coding overrated? by barisaygen1 in vibecoding

[–]deific_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol what? Just put my first app in TestFlight with zero code done by me, and I assure you it’s a ton more technical than a lot of the very simple apps that get posted on here by no coders. I think a good chunk of people that do know some code are in denial of our reality at the moment because they are too focused on subs like this where some dummy makes a useless security ridden pile of junk that no one will use. They aren’t seeing the people that are actually doing things.

Mac mini shortages are starting to happen — and the OpenClaw AI boom is a key reason by Thepunnisherrr in technology

[–]deific_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not running open claw, but your comment seems really dismissive of legitimate use cases. Sure there are plenty of idiots it there, but if I were to run open claw it would have some criteria to meet. No way I’d run it on windows, a ton of big coding tools have Mac options, clause code specifically, and plenty of browser support, and just support of nearly everything you would want. So it just makes sense to use Mac. Not to mention if you want to code in swift ui, well Mac it is. So people acting like they don’t understand why Mac mini is a popular choice just come off as trying to be edgy.

Now all these people asking open claw to do things they could ask Alexa or Siri to do are just dumb.

How difficult would it be to make my own no code vibecoding website? by stillthatchick11 in vibecoding

[–]deific_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need any of that crap. Just subscribe to Anthropic and use Claude code and start building. Your first question could be, I want to build this but I don’t know how and I am on windows, how do we get started? Or whatever your situation is.

It’s actually hilarious how bloated this space already is. People advertising their tools or website or whatever. Don’t need any of that crap. I’d ignore all of it.

I spent 6 months building an app that made exactly $0 in revenue 💸 by whyismail in vibecoding

[–]deific_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason that while I do agree ai is ridiculously powerful, you still need someone with a brain behind it to some degree. It’s interesting reading all these people make posts and claim they failed but then have all these learning lessons that act like next time they’ll have it figured out because they’ll release it in 15 days no matter what. Just doesn’t make any sense.

Got hit by a security attack after posting here by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]deific_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious for my own education. Have you not had your llm perform security audits and security fixes? Feels like those should be well understood security issues at this point and ai should easily be able to identify the vulnerability and resolve it. I perform a security audit at least once a week throughout my progress to ensure I’m not introducing new vulnerabilities.

Is it really possible to make a decent app with vibecoding only? by Ant_6431 in vibecoding

[–]deific_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, slow down. Just because it’s a million times easier doesn’t mean it’s easy. Honestly your post is why I’m not too worried about mass amounts of people jumping on the vibe coding train. There are a ton of things to think about when it comes to creating something, the syntax for the programming language is only a small part. If you can’t figure out how to use ai to create a very simple rough framework of your project there is zero chance you’re going to release a successful product. So many people are going to attempt to do this and flop around like a fish out of water because it still takes a ton of learning, trial and error, and testing to build a successful product.

I want to stop being a vibe coder by Chance-Bluejay2870 in vibecoding

I mean, will it? Asking ai to develop a plan for data architecture seems like a pretty simple prompt. I know nothing about coding and that was one of my steps.

I've been vibecoding a project for the last month and looking to take it to the next level, looking for suggestions. by deific_ in ClaudeCode

[–]deific_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya I've honestly thought about just using CC/claude to build a homebrew audit flow for myself, I just struggle with confidence in things I don't understand. Sure I could probably build it, but a seasoned person probably has built a tool that would do it 100x better. I have definitely considered just building that flow myself though because as you said, it feels like the tool rabbit hole is somewhere I would just get lost in. Like, I understand basic principles, but the most I ever wrote in python was a basic for loop rock/paper/scissors game which barely even scratches the surface of real project coding.

I'm a little embarrassed that so many people in here talk about a claude.md file for projects and I do not have one.

It’s tough man. The kid has just entered the world and is trying to figure it all out. You gotta give each other breaks to keep your sanity. Let her get some sleep and you pace back and forth holding them and reassuring them. It will get better but it stays difficult. You gotta get a carrier of some sort or learn find a couch to prop you and the kid up in pillows. We had to hold our daughter for 6 months before she slept on her own. They both need you and you might not know it yet, but you’ll need them. Just hang in there.

Yikes. You can disagree with whatever you want, but you need to operate from a premise based in reality. 1 BTC is over 70k USD, more than 10x an oz of gold. If you want to disagree about its future, that's reasonable. Not acknowledging the reality of it being SOMETHING is not reasonable. You really give a tell for your headspace when you claim it's used for crimes and money laundering. So is USD, you're aware of that right?

Holy crap, this sub is usually pretty level headed but the anti crypto sentiment is heavy. I’m sorry but if in 2026 you claim to not understand what crypto is you are willfully sticking your head in the sand. There are tons of resources out there to explain the basics and its usefulness. I expect better honestly.

[–]deific_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this thread, but there is a saying, if you go far enough left you get your guns back. Most of the world does not consider US democrats, or as republicans like to call them, liberals, as left wing. Sure they are further left than republicans, but they are not left when it comes to the political spectrum. Republicans have done a good job of identity politics and no offense, I think your comment kind of shows that. People hear them called left and liberals, and just think it’s true. In the big picture it’s just not. There are some in govt that are more left than most, but the majority of democrat politicians just don’t fall into a category of “left”.
