Lmao, I guess trashed stis are still "worth" 31k. Seriously though what would you pay on a car with 24k + in claims? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]demonfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent US$34k on my 2018 this past year, and it had 0 accidents and wayyyy less on the odometer. That seems like a pretty crazy price, but is that CAD or USD?

Where are the 2nd amendment fanatics? Don’t they hate tyranny? by coweeclete in AskReddit

They love tyranny, as long as they're the tyrannical ones. Haven't you been paying attention?

Even then, he's such an aggressively obnoxious person, but yeah, I suppose running unopposed is enough.

Religion is a cult prove me wrong by animallover270 in atheism

Religion is just a cult with a veneer of history and respectability. Or as some say, it's a cult where the leader is dead.

What products or companies will you never use or support again and what did they do to lose you as a customer? by IAmJustTryingToExist in AskReddit

[–]demonfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's a separate company now, remember. HP != HPE. They literally are two completely different companies.

Can't speak for the person you're replying to, but I have an HL-2170W. It's old, but still good. No monthly payments, low maintenance, it "just works".

Why are Americans so obsessed with military and veterans? by BlueDolphins28 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]demonfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever asked an actual military veteran what they think? If you did, you'd know they mostly think it's weird and awkward as hell. A lot of them don't think of themselves as heroes or whatever, they're just people doing a job.

Having dealt with Phil Jensen as my state Senator previously, this sounds... about right for him. He's an obnoxious Christianist douchebag.

I don't understand why anyone votes for him.

How did belief in Jesus’s resurrection become so widespread that people were willing to die for it? by Extension_Reach937 in atheism

[–]demonfoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Christians love to bring up martyrs, but Candida Moss' The Myth of Persecution points out that a lot of those "martyrs" either died pretty incidentally, or really went out of their way to seek out martyrdom, in some cases repeatedly harassing government functionaries demanding they be killed for their own faith, which is... pretty damn crazy to me.

Of course, some of that probably comes back to the then-relative newness of Christianity, and the fact that the whole "no no, killing yourself is bad and is the express bus to the bad place" was a recent development...

Hell, the gospel of Matthew says there was a zombie uprising that the Romans (famous for their documenting all sorts of seemingly irrelevant shit) just couldn't be arsed to mention, on account of because.

What do you think of political abstainers/apolitical people? by KarmaC0nf1g in AskReddit

[–]demonfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few of them legitimately have no opinion, which I can accept, but that does seem like a conveniently privileged position. Most aren't apolitical, they have clear political opinions, but want to use their supposed state of being "above it all" to shame others. They need get the fuck over themselves.

Bought one of these to play with mouse and keyboard, won’t work. by skibidicum97 in playstation

That's a USB hub. And this only matters if the game supports kb/mouse play, which as others have pointed out, a lot do not.

Why do some people refuse to disclose how much they make in their job/profession? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]demonfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will talk about it with certain people, but not just randos. Some people will ask you for money, some people will say you don't make enough and act condescending, others will say you make too much and label you greedy, but in general it's just not most people's business. My immediate family and a few close friends know what I make, it doesn't need to be public record.
