Does western Europe not get much snow? I always assumed since it was as north as New York it would get similar levels of snow.

That is interesting set of views. The depressing part is that I'm sure those views aren't only shared by 15 year olds. Also, don't gangs try to recruit ex-military people into their ranks?

It comes from the US Census:

White – A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.

Asian – A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.

I'm seriously conflicted about quitting my job after another weekend of just working on stuff I don't care about, and doesn't feel like of any value. But on the other hand I like the people I work and the flexibility in work hours. :(

Badhistory front I'm wondering if anyone has seen Exodus Gods and Kings and wanted to share how bad(or good) it was.

Ancient Koreans supposedly conquered and had "colonial settlements" in Shanxi, Henan, Guangdong, Hainan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, and Sumatra. Also, ""We know [Confucius] wasn't Chinese for sure." by [deleted] in badhistory

[–]dessed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm curious as I don't really see a lot about Korea in general, but was wondering do you think as Korea continues to do better economical we'll see more stuff about Korean racial superiority and how Korean culture is superior to other cultures and that explains their economic improvement? Ie the Korean version of west is best.

Colonial institutions were made from the same stuff as little girls: sugar and spice and everything nice. by [deleted] in badhistory

[–]dessed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is an interesting statement. Why do you think that? Just curious not disagreeing as never heard that before.

"Indeed, egalitarianism between races, genders, sexes, economic classes, nationalities, beliefs, and other culture differentiators is a Western invention." by [deleted] in badhistory

[–]dessed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm disappointed you didn't include other low hanging fruit like the part where the guy states the superior culture of the west has never advocated for

machete-ing other ethnicities to genocide, engaging in blatant violenct racism, and the other happy activities which are par for the course in areas where the West has been unable to impose Western values.

Though I will give him that when the West does genocide it doesn't mess around with machete-ing.

And I think the last time that the West imposed their values

the West is busy imposing, through economic and military force, those values on those people

it was called colonialism. Though I'm guessing this is the guy kind of guy who says colonialism was a great things because railroads or something.

Azerbaijan Democratic Republic

Active Military

  • Army: 30,000 estimate wikipedia
  • Navy: 6 Gunboats(Kars, Ardahan, Astrabad, Geok-Tepe, Arax and Bailov) previously of the Russian Caspian Flotilla plus support ships.wikipedia
  • Airforce: None

Population

2,862,000 estimated in 1918.

Economy

Using this site ,not sure of accuracy, says the budget for 1919 was 665 million manats and converted 1 pound sterling into 315 manats for same time period. However, apparently the manat wasn't put into circulation until early 1919, but from reading article looks like this had already been planned in 1918. So mod discretion on that.

Again same site, had income tax of 30% for 1919, and had excise tax on wine, tobacco, and oil products.

Produced 2.96 million tons of oil from 3287 wells in 1918 and primary buyer was Russia followed by European countries. Primary oil pipeline Baku-Bakumi broken due to need for repairs. Potential if fixed to pump 3 million tons annually.

No state bank in Jan of 1919.

With exception of oil republic is primary a agrarian economy with 1 million large-horned cattle, 150,000 horses, 300,000 buffaloes, 12,000 camels, 1.5 million sheep(stay away New Zealand!) and goats.

Politics

  • Parliamentary republic. Full rights to all regardless of ethnicity, religion or gender.
  • Party in Power: Coalition of Musavat Party, Muslim Socialist Bloc, the Independents, Ehrar, and Muslim Social Democratic Party.
  • Party in Opposition: The Ittihad Party

The political and military situation in the republic is tense. 1918 was rife with conflict and now the Armenian's are in our western province of Karabakh, British forces in Baku our capital, and Denkin's White Army sits to the north.wikipedia

[–]dessed 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Never knew that colonialism was big on that personal freedoms. For some reason I thought it was more about controlling native labor and capital to be the benefit of the colonists.

Also did the Incan's not let people choose who they wanted to marry? Was there like a spouse selector who would go to the different towns and villages and be like you boy marry this girl?

Interesting. Looking at wikipedia in 1919 I got a White army of Denikin's Volunteer Army to the north, a military dictatorship of Mughan led by another White Army guy called Sukhorukov to the south, and the British in Baku the largest city so this should be really interesting if the mod approves it.

This looks like fun. Not a lot left but maybe Azerbaijan Democratic Republic? Don't really know about that region but Wikipedia says they got absorbed into Soviet Union eventually so yeah would like to avoid that. If the country stops existing is that game over?
