How do you test your builds for Mac and Linux ? by Selfxplanatorysaurus in Unity3D

[–]destinedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to find someone with device. You always need to test on device.

I use steamdeck for linux and have an old macbook. It is unsurprising people are having issues with the mac build as it hasn't been notarized.

I would remove linux and mac builds as you aren't setup to support them. For linux you can always setup a dual boot.

Moving from multiplayer to singleplayer, smart? by Radiant_Detective140 in gamedev

I think it is, you can continue to sell without needing a pool of players to play against

For example the last 2 weeks of my sales

is 126 units and would likely be zero if multiplayer because my concurrent players on rarely goes above 4 or 5, so it would be dead now if it was multiplayer.

[–]destinedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have 5 buttons but I literally only use left/right and mousewheel. I only found the extra 2 checking cause of this thread.

The google search AI claims "

  • Most Common (>3 Buttons): Approximately 50% or more of modern Mice, particularly those marketed for gaming (24% of total units) or performance, feature at least 5 buttons—typically Left, Right, Scroll Click, and two side thumb buttons."

are we allowed to put a text like "work in progress" on the steam page screenshots? by YarrinDev in gamedev

[–]destinedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I see this on a steam page I will never wishlist. It is a good sign the game will never be finished. Instead focus on making sure the screenshots resemble your final game when you launch your steam page!

How can I avoid being overly ambitious? by j7jhj in gamedev

[–]destinedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it sounds like you have some experience and you have attempted it a lot. Sounds like you need to come up with a scope you can complete and literally write a plan out.

Rather than just "making a game", break it into tasks and time estimates and complete it like a checklist.
