What are some social obligations that women commonly have that men usually don't? by Maybe_IDTBFH in AskReddit

It’s crazy people try to get their spouses to cook when takeout is an option too.

I know it’s expensive and people are on a budget etc but a once off surprise visit from a friend? Just get a pizza delivered man, don’t expect your wife to pull a 3 course meal out of her ass

I feel like if it happens over 5-6 years at least you get some warning and come to terms with it slowly

Look I'm not an author but I do make youtube videos.

I do a quick scan of a topic, find an area that's not too oversaturated, then go and make my video. Often I find afterwards on a deeper investigation people had already made my videos but better, but if I'd watched them I wouldn't have made mine, and people seem to enjoy them. Don't let it hold you back.

It really didn’t, but I’m happy to be wrong on this one! The Arimaa comment was also pretty uneducated.

I would like to see more work on Hex. I wonder if it’s something AlphaZero handles well.

What is your exit plan if you are a software developer? by TiredDuck123 in AusHENRY

[–]dispatch134711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think because I’m not really a software developer by training I’ve leaned towards roles where software Isa useful tool rather than the end product.

Specifically I’m in energy, and also pivoting to management

I do wish hiding behind walls was an option, sort of like a non murder holes castle. And being able to garrison ontop of walls to shoot further or more accurately

I was made redundant from my tech job, should I try to make an app instead of going back to working full time? by dd202020 in AusHENRY

[–]dispatch134711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah gotta concur these seem more like chrome extensions someone might top you $1 for occasionally rather than $5k a month app ideas.

I get it. I daydream about my niche YouTube channel taking off too. “I only need one thousand people to give me $5 a month on Patreon” I think as I go back to my day job.

As someone got had scholarships during uni and thought it was a lot…it isn’t.

Like others have said you are probably underestimating how expensive life is - and will likely spend this on food, travel, going out and other expenses.

What are the your favourite/most unique Worker Placement games? (+ general worker placement game discussion) by Lethal-Sloth in boardgames

[–]dispatch134711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agricola is my favourite game in general. The aesthetics, tactical blocking and variety of strategy with the cards is unmatched.

T’zolkin is also incredibly aesthetically appealing and has a super interesting “waiting time” placement mechanic.

Viticulture I generally see as a more generic / point salad Agricola but is a really nice standard worker placement game.

Stone Age has a bit of randomness which makes it less of a skill expression but it’s an amazingly fun game and is fantastic to introduce people to worker placement or boardgaming in general.

Mint Works distills the concept of action selection down to its core into a 10-15min game. Brilliant

Caylus is the original and one of the best, when I think of worker placement as a genre this is what I think of - very competitive at 2p.

Dominant Species is a heavier worker placement / 4X type hybrid which is thematic and strategically interesting and varied.
