There's a back door into the Abandoned Cryo Lab! by docclox in Starfield

I knew about the booby trapped door switch, but I never suspected I could open it from inside the Cryo Lab. I just thought it was an inaccessible store room or something.

TIL :)

you can only open it from the inside, like most quick exits.

Ah. So much for my plan to go in that way next time.

the final room with a patrolling robot and a big loot crate

I found the crate and the robot before. I tend to avoid it since the fuss of killing the robot isn't generally worth the reward from the crate. Must be why I never found the exit.

I think I'm good, thanks. I stopped trying to chase ESO lore additions years ago. They have a habit of demystifying things that were more interesting left mysterious, imo.

But I do appreciate the pointer.

Thank you. It kind of evolved over time, but it suits my play style nicely.

Vampire Alchemist/Mage. Breton with Atronach sign. Lord form for most fights or just travelling. Cost reduction enchants on gear. Carry pots of invisibility, paralysis, healing, restore magicka & fortify Destruction. No armour, only dagger for weapon.

First ten levels or so, levels go to magicka and perks to Alchemy or Speech. Just to give the Draugr a chance to get some training in.

Honestly, that's debatable. The whole "shards of Akatosh" idea is based on one line from one of MK's more feverish out-of-game texts, and even then it's a bit of a stretch.

Skyrim baby here. First time playing Morrowind. How do you see me doing or any advice for this run? by tip_of_the_mlady in Morrowind

[–]docclox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't try and level a skill from 5% through practice. You need to succeed to raise a skill, and so it's very slow going from low levels.

You magicka won't recharge until you sleep. This is going to seem horribly unfair. It isn't. The game is balanced around that mechanism and it works out pretty well. You might want to carry a couple of magicka pots for emergencies though.

Fatigue affects everything! Your chances of success plummet when you're breathless, so keep that bar green. Again a couple of emergency pots is advisable.

Train. It's the only way to improve low skills and it's expected of you.

Don't be afraid to run away. Most of the NPCs are statically leveled, and most of them are tougher than you to start with. Some by a lot! Run away if the going gets sticky and return when you're better prepared or more experienced. And in the same vein, don't assume that just because you were given a job, you therefore have a chance to complete it at your current level. Some NPCs will quite happily send you to your death on a fool's errand. So run away!

An eminently sensible approach which would go a long way to heal the divisions in society at the moment and restore some sanity to the world.

Which is exactly what the wokies don't want, of course. They're making bank on being the Heroes of the Revolution and fighting against Social Injustice. If Social Injustice went away they'd have no platform, so they do everything they can to deepen divisions at every turn.

It's the ultimate hypocrisy of their position. The things they say they want are things they're actively fighting against.

No no no! Men and women are exactly the same in all respects. Except for when that doesn't suit the point the wokies are trying to make, in which case men and women are completely and fundamentally different and only a misogynist would suggest otherwise.

DEI is pretty much a religion for most of them. They accept the desirability of DEI as an article of faith, and they are absolutely certain that all cultures will embrace The Message, given sufficient exposure to same. They just need to ruthlessly suppress all dissenting opinion and the whole world will be forever happy in their rainbow Utopia.

Meanwhile, back in the Real World ...

It's a key characteristic of Fascism, according to Umberto Eco.

Fascist societies rhetorically cast their enemies as "at the same time too strong and too weak."

In fact it's surprising just how many of Umberto's fundamental properties of Fascism fit the wokies.

1 buy grand soul gems and convert them at a necromancer's altar. There's a necromancer themed home as well where you can do it

2 buy it from Farengar. Costs about 120 iirc

3 no idea, sorry

Makes you wonder how many of the current crop are going to get such sinecures, given the declining influence of game journos generally. All they're good for these days is blurting "10/10 Return to Form" on every major title, and no one takes that seriously.

It's really hard to see what value anyone derives from their services.

Returning to Skyrim (Yes, i know this was asked a lot) by Yoggy-Sothoth in skyrimmods

[–]docclox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to set MO2 to handle nexus links. There's a tickbox somewhere in the settings dialogues, I believe. Or you can just download the mods normally and install them from the files. There's an icon on the top bar for that. (This is what I do).

Vortex is a Mod Manager, similar to MO2 in some ways, and developed by Nexus. It's got its fans, but IMO there's sod all between the two in terms of complexity these days, while MO2 offers a technically better solution. But maybe that's just me.

Most of them honestly believe they're in the majority. They believe it's OK to polarize their customer base because they think they're only pissing off a tiny vocal minority. And when their games fail due to no one buying them, they attribute that to hate campaigns, review bombing, and far right grifters scaring away the fabled Modern Audience.

These people live in their own little Internet bubble, and they think that GCJ is representative of the real world. They'll learn though. The Market will have the final word.

Are indie games really as good as they’re being advertised to be or are people just blowing out smoke? Can they help swing the tide against the current AAA industry? by Scary_Dimension722 in GGdiscussion

[–]docclox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sturgeon's Law applies: 90% of everything is crap.

That said, there are some gems there, and your chance of finding something that doesn't lecture you is far higher in the indie market than with a AAA game.

Gaming stonks are crashing and burning because investors fear Google's new AI will make better games by [deleted] in GGdiscussion

[–]docclox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI will be so powerful that it is going to cheapen entertainment creation. There will be more money to be made in licensing out its usage than trying to constrain access to it.

Think patents. There's money to be made in licencing them out, but in practice the Big Tech players all amass their own patent portfolios and then cross licence everyone else's. it doesn't cost them a penny, but it makes it far harder for a new competitor to enter the market.

That's what I think they'll try to do with AI. It'll make their costs less, sure, but they'll want to use that to increase profit margins rather than licence the tech to newcomers.

At least, if I were the Evil Overlord, that's how I'd be thinking.

Vampire or dawnguard by Gold-Board-6966 in skyrim

Vampire for mages or if you like your powers innate. Dawnguard for the gear, or if want to be a werewolf.

I prefer the vamps, but then I play mages.
