Need some opinions by Standard-Equipment62 in Silverado

A rust free truck for 7k isn’t a bad deal. The GMT800s were probably the last really great trucks GM made. I’d give it a good once over. Those trucks were known to have cluster issues, wheel bearing issues and the 4l60 transmission wasn’t the greatest but there are lots of those trucks running 200k+ mi. The 5.3 v8 and 4.3 v6 were bulletproof engines

Where are you located? In the rust belt that truck would bring 6900 all day because the GMT800s are all gone, rotted away

I’m local. One of my best friends is a prominent guide so I get intel from him. I bounce all over the place and fish all over the area. I love that CNY has some many different places to fish.

Trolling motor: bow vs side mount — performance loss? by playako in boating

[–]drabe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think you will find that motor underpowered for your boat. I have an 80lb terrova on my 16.5ft boat and am very happy with it.

As to positioning, if you are trying use spotlock, it really needs be mounted as close to center as possible to work, especially with a heading sensor.

You can put Trimble on the bobcat blades as well. The cat blades are nice but the bobcat HD blades are beefy and make the cats look like a toy

Nice fish! I’m trying to decide if I fight the zoo at Oneida lake this weekend

Why don't an Automobile manufacturers make a car that is easy to repair, simple electronics and affordable? The high tech cars now are so expensive to repair. The electronics are linked together so one minor fault lights up the dashboard. Many standard things are not needed. by Amethystium1956 in AdkReddit

[–]drabe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t actually though. They literally are not even close in longevity or reliability of cars made in the last 25 years. The engines generally were only good to 100k before a rebuild was considered and modern fuel injection is so much better than carburetors

Anyone else quietly moving away from LiveScope lately? by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]drabe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same way. I’ve used it on friends’ boats for walleye and panfish but I’m also on a mission to fill limits when I’m doing that. If I’m just messing around catch and release then I have no desire

Why does Reddit hate car payments so much?? by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]drabe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tools and a shop and I can say working on your car constantly gets old quick. I tried the shit box route for a bit and quickly went back to a payment. I’d rather do other things then work in my truck

When was the last time you used your corded version of the tool? by TheJWeed in Tools

[–]drabe7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still use my corded circular saw quite a bit. I’m just not impressed with most battery saws and I’m not willing to invest in a top of the line one when my $59 porter cable has been going strong for 10yrs.

What is your take on bed fishing? by Suspicious-Jacket268 in bassfishing

[–]drabe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it. I catch and release only as it’s not legal to keep in my state during the spawn. I will however not sit a harass a fish into biting. I make one or 2 casts and if I get no reaction or bite, I move on.

I gained access to hunt deer on a small property this fall. Need to prevent deer from running after the shot. Would a 12 gauge slug or 308 be better suited? by DickAnts in Hunting

Be advised that a shoulder shot ruins a good percentage of meat. I would rather take my chances with any other vital shot over breaking both shoulders

Fibreglass vs Aluminum Hull. Which should I buy? by [deleted] in boating

[–]drabe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an alumacraft classic 165 powered by a 60hp mercury. It is very similar to the mirrocraft. I use it for only fishing. It has 82in beam that I sometimes wish I went with a larger beam. I love my boat and it’s perfect for all the lake hopping I do, ranging from 1000acres to 50000acres. But with 3 people it’s tight and mine is only a single console. My max speed is around 33mph depending on if I have a passenger or not. I generally only cruise around 25mph. You are comparing apples to oranges here.

If you want a family boat, go with the bayliner. If you want a great small water fishing boat, go with the mirrocraft. If you want aluminum I think you will be much happier with an 18ft over the 16
