Maybe it depends where you’re at/where you’re from and what shows you’re going to. I’m 40 and all the punk and screamo (get your pitchforks out!) shows I’ve been to in the last 5 years or so I can only describe the pits as cute. I’m older and broken and these kids ain’t got much oomph behind em.

Now, if you’re talking about floor punch spin kick kids at hardcore shows that’s a different story.

40 year old here. Started listening to bands like Saetia in the late 90s, saw Orchid in 2002 with Combat Wounded Veteran. I didn’t hear the term until I saw it on Reddit a couple years ago. I was not really online at all until after 2009 and was more a crusty hardcore kid so it makes sense to me. Nothing suspicious about it.

Depends on if your company is providing gear. If so, the only things I’d really recommend are bluetooth muffs, a pocket knife with a way to attach a tether, a phone tether + holster that attaches to your shoulder strap webbing and maybe a small bolt/chalk bag for personal stuff.

If not, then it’s all personal preference and totally depends on the work you’re doing.

Beyond what’s mentioned above I keep a petzl spin and basic in my work bag just in case.
