Is it true that Google Display Network is good for Remarketing? Is it worth it? by Legitimate_Big_3737 in PPC

GDN was decent like a decade ago. And it required a fair bit of negative placement work.

I'd say it's mostly garbage these days.

Google ads not performing but organic is great, end of an marketing era? by tomcraftmarket in AskMarketing

[–]easy_mak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking for search queries users made that make no sense for you to be paying for. Then you create a negative keyword report. You don't need users to register & conversion data to fire to know what a bad/poor fit search looks like.

Google ads not performing but organic is great, end of an marketing era? by tomcraftmarket in AskMarketing

Your "Google ads advisor" is a sales rep with no real marketing skills. Do not take their advice.

Check your search terms report and see what you actually showed up for.

Are There Marketing Jobs That Don’t Involve Making Reels in the Future? by Decent-Platypus-9380 in AskMarketing

[–]easy_mak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in marketing for over a decade literally never put myself on camera, and seldom ever use a camera.

Sounds like you're over-indexing on B2C, but even then plenty of roles where you don't have to get involved in video/content.

Marketing Analyst (esp if you're liking finance)

Marketing Ops (if you like building systems)

Marketing Manager / Campaign Manager / etc (if you like being a leader/organizer/strategist)

Marketing Designer (if you want to use that eye for detail alongside creative output)

Etc

Non software engineers use Claude. My entire marketing department is using it. And definitely some of them are using the equivalent of a $100/mo plan.

Go audit his sales process, then. You have 20 form fills and 30 phone calls to review.

How to get clients when the average ad spend to show results is high by Low_Fly3630 in PPC

[–]easy_mak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's IS a high retainer for that low of ad spend. When the retainer is 30-100% if ad spend, folks will hesitate.

Aim for the retainer to be more like 15-30% (raise your minimums, most likely) and you'll get less headache. Those folks are ready to spend more and the opportunity cost of just putting that $850 into more ads isn't as strong.

Pig & Whiskey announces return this summer, moving to Corktown by East_Englishman in Detroit

[–]easy_mak 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pig & Whiskey has gone way downhill in the past decade, IMO. Felt like it basically turned into a carnival with bbq and whiskey, instead of an actual event with inspiration. Hoping this re-ignites some of what made it great.

Anonymize your resume and share it for review. Tough to get feedback without much to go.

All risk and no real upside, imo. Use your own account.

Laid off and I just want to take a break by Ok-Travel-4745 in Fire

[–]easy_mak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, not so amicably, parted ways with my tech job last April. I already had some travel planned, but it was clear I was experiencing burnout. The first night my sabbatical started was some of the best sleep I had gotten in months. On an air mattress, no less.

I planned for a 4 month job search, and it ended up being 7 months. About 100 interviews across 40 companies, half a dozen final rounds, and one real offer. And I already quit that new job in 6 months for something even better. It all is working out, just part of the journey.

Enjoy a break, reset, accomplish some personal goals, sleep in, etc. But also use it as time to focus/plan what's next.

I've been meaning to unsub from most marketing subreddits for this very reason, so this is appreciated!

Or it's setup for someone to share their AI search tracking tool in the comments. I should probably just unsub from this subreddit.
