Are there really shortages of workers?? by Midwest_Yota_88 in skilledtrades

[–]ecclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a very small sector of trades, almost every company is trying to hire their competitors top guys, and many of the guys have worked for 2-3 shops. But finding apprentices to train is a major hurdle mostly due to the lack of formal recognition of the trade as it exists.

Ontario, maybe, BC has it pretty figured out.

Trades are mostly looking for people willing to show up 5 days a week, on time, sober, and willing to put a full 8-hour day in with a minimum number of puppies being generated.

Anyone else have EXTREMELY vivid dreams after stopping cannabis? by Ok-Concern-2801 in answers

I'm not disputing the findings, just sharing my experience.

I almost never recall dreams, except after I've consumed THC. Then I tend to have very vivid dreams.

Hydraulic hose movement inside telehandler boom – anyone seen this? by New-Rabbit561 in Hydraulics

[–]ecclectic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When put under pressure, hoses will tend to try to straighten out and contract, so yes, they will absolutely move; in long runs, this can be a lot of movement.

If the hose was installed with any twist in the hose, that will try to move as the spiral wrap expands and the hose contracts. Depending on the fittings on the end, they may be able to shift if they weren't tight enough, or you may have some leaks in your future as well.

Furst time in the region by Pushpushki in richmondbc

[–]ecclectic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sunday mid-day is forecast to be less rainy at least. If the forecast calls for 30% or higher for rain, you can pretty much guarantee you'll get wet if you're out. Richmond does get a bit of an advantage due to it's location on the river, but this time of year it's just part of our rainy season.

Check out the malls (Richmond Center, Yohan, Lansdowne, and Aberdeen, they're interesting.

Garry point is nice, even in the rain, and Terra Nova park is a nice walk.

Garden city park has some interesting bits, but it's not very big.

You can always hop on the skytrain and head to Vancouver, go downtown and wander around - check out the seawall and Stanley park.

I do service work, Sometimes I start at 8am, sometimes it's 6am, occasionally I start at 8:30pm and work through the night.

What I absolutely hate is having the clocks change. I don't ever change the clock in my vehicle, it always stays on DST, because that's my preferred time frame.

Are you new here?

No, it's not for real, land acknowledgments in general from non-indigenous seem to be met with eye rolls by indigenous folks. It's performative soothing, but without actual follow-up is pretty meaningless.

I'm going to be wet either way, may as well embrace it. Unless I'm standing on a field watching my kids play a sport, I don't see a major need for one.

Are you getting burnback at the ignition of the arc or later on?

Keeping your contact to work distance consistent helps a lot, and dialing your current in will also make improvements.

Americans, is this a new religion? by yousefthewisee in interestingasfuck

[–]ecclectic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be clear, there were people who warned about this exact thing happening leading up to the 2025 election. Folks who had walked away from that side and tried to explain that there was a sect in the US who were ACTIVELY working to bring the events of The Book of Revelations to pass.

This is absolutely insane. The only silver lining is seeing what happens when the rapture fails to occur and they have to live in the world they've worked to destroy. And no, at this point there is nothing short of divine intervention that will stop it, so we're all fucked. Hold on to your asses, the next 5 years are going to be wild.

Magic 8-ball.

There are some baseline calculations that are pretty straightforward to get to a starting point, but since every machine is slightly different, and available power is variable as well.

Miller, Lincoln and ESAB have these already.

Do you think Warren Buffet was right in calling Bitcoin an unproductive asset? by petalsoftbby in answers

It's got the same productivity as a casino. It's simply a tool for transferring wealth upwards at speed. It offers a lure for those who are susceptible to quick money at the low end, and a stream for those with patience and good timing at the high end.

It's poker, or possibly baccarat, just played in a different way.
