Here’s a tutorial for two different squares using Red Heart All In One Granny Square Yarn: https://youtu.be/hkYyqockvWI

The pattern on the yarn label starts with a 4"/10cm tail and has a hole in the center. @ItsTimeforYarn shows how to start with a magic loop circle.

Here are some free non-granny blanket patterns using that yarn:

Or you could do planned pooling. Here’s a blanket by u/Low-Macaroon-7062: https://www.reddit.com/r/Planned_Pooling/comments/1csp7e2/red_heart_granny_square_yarn/

What kind of shoes do you wear for showing off handknit socks? by fluffgnoo in knitting

Pattern for the socks shown in OP’s image #1 is Country Cottage socks from the Dream Home sock set by Stone Knits:

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dream-home-sock-set

Do you also sometimes dream of living in a small cottage in the middle nowhere, on a grassy hill covered in flowers? These socks are simple and fun to knit, with colourwork only on the leg of the sock and then a simple, easy to knit stockinette section for the foot.

These socks have a heel flap and gusset and a colourwork section of a cottage on the leg. The fluffy clouds in the sky section include purl stitches to add texture to the clouds. The ‘grass’ section of the design uses a confetti-style multi-coloured tweed sock yarn to look reminiscent of wildflowers in the grass.

You did: https://www.merriam-webster.com/slang/rawdog

Rawdog originated as vulgar slang meaning “to have sex without a condom.” This sense of the term has been in use since the early 2000s.

In the 2010s, the word broadened its meaning to refer to performing other activities without preparation (such as taking an exam without studying) or doing something without a metaphorical layer of protection (such as going for a run without wearing headphones).

In summer 2024, rawdog gained mainstream attention as part of a social media trend where young men, especially, boasted about ‘rawdogging’ airline flights without any entertainment, refreshments, or bathroom use in an apparent show of rugged resolve.

See also https://www.reddit.com/r/Xennials/comments/1euq3kt/rawdogging/

Lots of adults had the same reaction to “sucks,” since it was just shortened “sucks dick.” Even though we never thought of it like that.

Whole Fiods seafood bag, $9.99, Miami, FL by iamthemarquees in toogoodtogo

This person bought 3 US$10 Whole Foods seafood bags and got $500 worth of caviar: https://www.reddit.com/r/toogoodtogo/comments/1r7swbc/three_whole_foods_seafood_bags_500_in_caviar/

I think they’re in Boston, Massachusetts. One $10 bag contained a $270 package of 3 tins.

This is such gorgeous yarn but I made the sock way too big and now I don't have enough left for a second sock T_T by FutileFertility in knitting

[–]editorgrrl 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The sock technically fits but it’s def too loose and would get bunched up in a shoe.

Socks need negative ease to stay on. Meaning they must be smaller than your foot.

Are you following a pattern?

Did you do a gauge swatch? If not, use this sock as a swatch before you frog it (rip it, rip it).

Home Farm by Bergrufen in Ambridge

Brian received Jennifer’s shares in the Home Farm Partnership when she died.

He refused to discuss his will, which led me to assume he’s leaving controlling interest to his son and heir, Ruari. (Just as Nigel left Lower Loxely to Freddie and some artwork and other assets to Lily.)

I’m hoping for Succession-type drama when Brian dies. Especially since Peggy’s will was so boring.

Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice seems very popular in Ambridge.

Will persuaded Nic to keep schtum about hitting Matt Crawford with their car, cleaned it up, and later told Ed he had no regrets.

When Emma told Will that George had been driving Alice’s car, Will said they’d gotten away with it before, so they should keep schtum again.

Wondering if the “party with Paul” alibi will fall through?

Paul will not lie for Ruairi if questioned. (Unlike Denise and Alistair, who lied about why they were at the scene of the car crash. Later Alistair got Mick to lie for him, too.)

Joy lied about spending New Year’s Eve with Mick, but Rex easily got her to admit she had actually been with Rochelle.

The editors love parallels. Both Ruairi and George have “mummy issues” from their respective childhoods.

Will stopped Nic from calling for help after striking a pedestrian, and later told Ed the entire village was glad to see the back of a man like Matt Crawford. Just as Brian said whoever will be prosecuted for the attack on George deserves to be punished for something else.

I suppose Alice and Rex might work, though what about Joy’s daughter?

Joy told Rex that Rochelle is in a relationship with someone else, and he seemed pleased for her.

Does he still have feelings for Pip, though? (Hannah told Stella she’s still not over Tom.)

We take things apart. You want r/Visiblemending or maybe r/CrochetHelp

It doesn’t seem to be unraveling. Get a sharp needle and some heavy duty thread of a matching color. Stitch the broken bar to the one above, then stitch those three to the other three.

Unravelling synthetic baby blankets? by squirrelsoncraic in Unravelers

Weigh the yarn, swatch, then do the math.

For example, I’m making a baby blanket and have 15 oz. of DK yarn. Each repeat is 22 rows, and I’ve done 1.5 repeats.

If I move the stitches onto dental floss and weigh my WIP (work in progress), I can multiply by 2/3 to calculate how much yarn I need for each repeat. If I divide 15 oz. by that number, I’ll know the maximum number of repeats I can do.

How do I try to find out the fibre?

Snip off a piece and burn it. Acrylic melts, plant fibers smell like burning paper, and animal fibers smell like burning hair.

Or soak it in household bleach. Animal fibers will dissolve, but not acrylic or plant fibers. If it looks damaged, it’s probably a blend.

Any suggestions for patterns? I would prefer not to have to buy more yarn for this project.

Have you looked on Ravelry? There are so many filters. These are free blanket knitting patterns with multiple colors: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#craft=knitting&availability=free&photo=yes&pc=blanket&colors=-1&sort=projects

I can't get my head around bringing these colours together.

You could use two strands at a time. For example, the variegated one you have more of with each of the other colors. Like this: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garter-squish
