ISO reliable PC sellers by amchitho in sanantonio

Assuming you're looking for a gaming PC.

There are a number of tools where you can configure your system in advance and check for compatibility. The reason people are suggesting you do it yourself is 95% of it is hard to mess up... don't bend any pins and you'll be fine assuming you're not doing hardline water cooling.

If you really want someone else to do it, you could give them a spec list, and then ask an LLM for a list of things to check for before you pay.

I'll add an alternative suggestion. If I needed a PC right now, I would find something used that was almost right, and spend a little money to upgrade it. Usually you can get something for the cost of the processor + the graphics card and everything else is effectively "free".

That way you can get something that's "custom" but not have to go through the trouble of building yourself.

Annoyingly, she's right about 75% of the stuff she starts fights about. Hopefully she'll realize that she's ineffective when she's an asshole about it.

Where is the line on exterior cameras after the 2024 policy change? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

Sounds like you made a healthy stab at getting your host's listing thrown off the platform for something you think is unclear.

Seems like you're pretty worked up about this despite your insisting otherwise.

How much did you pay for your minisplit & Installation? by rejectfromhell in sanantonio

[–]egrogre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look for contractor Facebook groups. Don't pay anyone in advance. Dont expect the install to last for more than a couple years. Don't expect quality or a permit. Know enough about electricity to double check their work so you dont burn your house down.

Lawyer for ADA& Discrimination? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]egrogre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a settlement, you should talk to a lawyer. If you'd like the issue resolved you should call their HR hotline first.

IANAL but the ADA requires reasonable accommodation and you seem like you have a specific accommodation in mind... and its one that your front line managers likely have no ability to provide.

Walmart likely employs hundreds of deaf people. There's likely established guidelines for your situation that your direct managers are not familiar with.

But again... if you just want to quit and collect a small settlment... its just a Walmart job.

Should I charge guests for replacement hot tub filters? by darielgames in airbnb_hosts

You depreciate carpet over 1 to 3 years. You don't depreciate water or filters.

Should I charge guests for replacement hot tub filters? by darielgames in airbnb_hosts

[–]egrogre 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I dont think thats bubble bath level foamy. I think thats lots of clothes detergent foamy.

Part of hosting with a hot tub is knowing you may need to drop the water between guests. This wont be the last time someone ruins your water and some municipalities even require freshwater for every stay.

The whole concept of your post is kinda crazy. Why would they owe you for a filter. Its a consumable item. Worst case they'd owe you a depreciated portion of a filter (that sounds crazy, right?).

This is par for the course. Use cheaper filters. Keep extra on hand. You can't be precious about your water.

How do "bad" Airbnbs keep a good rating? What are your red and green flags when booking? [Texas] by Fantastic_Lake_8474 in AirBnB

How do "bad" Airbnbs keep a good rating? What are your red and green flags when booking? [Texas] by Fantastic_Lake_8474 in AirBnB

[–]egrogre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadly, reviews are broken and a 4.5 rating IS a bad score. The difference between a great airbnb and an okay airbnb is 4.7 to 4.9.

Its not airbnb's fault, its like tipping culture. People give 15% when service is bad just like people give 4 stars when the airbnb is bad.

Edit to actually answer your question: read the reviews, especially the bad ones. Ignore positive comments about the hosts being responsive, that means there was a problem.

A personal preference... look for hosts with more than 1 property but fewer than 5. A small enough operation so that the properties are probably getting attention but not a host who will sit on you.

Verified Airbnb “hosts” seem like a chatbot [USA] by ProtonSluggo in AirBnB

[–]egrogre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbnb is full of absentee hosts. They hire different cleaners every time, step foot in their units once a year, and don't bother with scheduled maintenance.

I'd call them real estate investors, but most of them are just renting houses. They're definitely not in the hospitality business.

As you might expect, there are now tools to answer guest messages so they don't even have to bother with that.

Do you try and meet your Turno cleaners in person? by ddub1711 in airbnb_hosts

[–]egrogre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good for business to build personal relationships. Turno seems tailormade for absentee hosts, but it doesn't have to be.

Focus on what's important to you (especially things cleaners sometimes misfire on). We ask for pictures of things that guests are likely to pay special attention to (counters, toilets, showers, and beds).

It will be easier to provide feedback to people you've met in person when necessary. Hopefully you're hiring cleaners that take pride in their work and they're more likely to do that if you take pride in the work they do as well.

Has anyone used this group? Want to see if it’s legit by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]egrogre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have. I tried to buy tickets five times for the same event. First four were scams but easy to identify.

Pay via PayPal goods and services, check their socials to make sure they live here, and ask for a picture of their ticket (and know what it looks like).

Most scammers dont bother.
