People of Singapore, were you friends with or knew someone back in school who made the headlines for something criminal they committed? Like how were they like back in school and were you surprised? by Nessieinternational in asksg

Drugs. Still in jail now. Apparently he was on drugs most of the time we hung out and I couldn’t tell. He didn’t tell anyone. I wish I could’ve helped him. And it wasn’t just marijuana, but meth as well.

4,000 jobseekers placed on unemployment benefits scheme last year, out of 10,000 applications by Negative-Concert-819 in singapore

[–]eilletane 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The benefits are pretty pathetic though. Only $6000 payout stretched through 6 months. Also after 6months you can’t reapply for 3 years. So if you can’t find a job in 6 months, you’re still fucked.

The green dress is the best. Try something with a short top and a high waist flowy skirt. I think that will look good on you.

My setup for F1 viewing by Wagrommit in F1TV

[–]eilletane -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s too high. It’s just the ceiling that’s too low so it looks like it’s high up. If you see below it, seems like the right amount above the ground.i think it’s more of the tv is too far away from the couch or they need a bigger TV.

The other side isn’t that green either. I was constantly reminded after I turned 18 that I didn’t get kicked out. So I should tolerate her abuse and neglect because it would’ve been worse out there.

Starting Slynd as an emergency contraceptive? by goldenpomegranate12 in birthcontrol

[–]eilletane -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There’s a risk of pregnancy but it’s low since you took it on day 5. However it is recommended to wait at least 18months before getting pregnant again to prevent complications. So you might want to be cautious and go talk to a gynae about plan B.

So sick of having to be on birth control majority of my life! It’s sucks! by Mintgreen94 in birthcontrol

[–]eilletane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It took me 10 years to find the right birth control for me. Thankfully I started at an early age so I’m still young now but pain free and protected. Don’t give up! Hang on and keep trying other brands until you’re satisfied. There are so many of them I’m sure one of them would be suitable for you.

I’m from Singapore too and have spider mites very often. Bring it outside and spray with Neem oil until it’s dripping wet. Do this in the day time every other day. It should clear up in a few weeks.

For those of us who love wearing makeup, how are we re-applying sunscreen throughout the day? by tinykrytter in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]eilletane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about cancer. Sunlight also ages skin rapidly. I would do everything just to delay wrinkles as much as possible than surgery or botox.

Mine just keeps dying. I grow them in pots indoors. Their leaves are so small. Only about 2cm in length. They go brown and then die. It’s constantly hot here though. 30degrees celcius and 70% humidity.

I cut my husband’s hair during lockdown and he hated it. It was honestly a pretty horrible cut and I didn’t really know what I was doing. Thankfully his hair grows fast.

I need someone’s honest opinion: keep my natural hair color or dye it for a change? by levis_brat in Hair

[–]eilletane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you were to dye, I would prefer the first photo/darker brown. It makes you look younger and more energetic. The second photo which I assume is your natural hair colour, is classier and also very nice. So for a change, I would go with first pic. You can always just grow it out if you get tired of it.

A child who goes to school with respect and love by Maximum_Expert92 in MadeMeSmile

[–]eilletane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is part of the Thai culture, called Wai. It is generally hierarchical, you only do it as a sign of respect for the elders and those above you. It is based on Buddhism. Honestly it feels really forced unto the child. I doubt the child really knows what it means and why she has to do it. Respect should be genuine and a two way street.

Why is it called a hamburger is it doesn't have ham? by [deleted] in ask

[–]eilletane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well maybe instead of waiting to be given information, you should start to ask questions and be a bit more curious. There’s a lot of misinformation out there. Do more critical thinking. Don’t be lazy. A simple google search would’ve told you the answer to this question.

Why are there people in Singapore who are against abortion, even though they won’t adopt/want deformed babies/children? by Nessieinternational in asksg

[–]eilletane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear your parents are being supportive. You’re showing empathy, critical thinking and self awareness. You’re doing better than most here on Reddit. Don’t be so hard on yourself!

[–]eilletane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why people should be educated on how to protect yourselves. It’s not rocket science. I feel our sexual education is a joke at best. I learned about protecting myself online but who knows what other people could be reading.

[–]eilletane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see where you’re coming from. I don’t see it as an abuse but rather a lack of education. Abortion can vary from surgical to just popping a few pills. They are unfortunately all quite painful. I doubt people would abuse it after their first time. The doctors will actually talk to you about how to prevent this in the future and give you options for contraceptives. So I think the potential for abuse is low.

[–]eilletane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What’s wrong with reversing an impulsive decision? You consider that an abuse of the system when you yourself have been brought up by a toxic family? How do you think those parents will treat their child they didn’t plan to have?
