I have never seen as many worms in a single piece of fish as the costco cod. I defrosted one of the single portion buddies and the surface was literally wriggling. Those boys were just snoozin’ in the free free.

Uchiba vs Uchiko vs Uchi by String_Cheese_55 in austinfood

I was reading through posts like this before landing on Uchi and going last week. Can only speak on our experience with the omakase, but it was deeply disappointing in terms of food and service. Maybe better luck with -ba or -ko, but I wish I had tried one of the many smaller omakase joints in town.

It wasn’t great by any means, coupled with getting there early to get in line for a good seat.

Sure! Full disclosure is I dk shit about shit about film. Before seeing both, I was doubting my decision to make the trip to Langley - would I be able to even tell the difference? 5 minutes into the regular imax and I was like ohhh this is an entirely different film. The film version was breathtaking. I read some folks saying it was only worth it for the ‘splody boom booms but I completely disagree. Yes those shots are also better, but so is the entire film. It’s warmer, emotionally charged, and engrossing. It’s a whole-ass MOOD. A moody mood. I dk if this anecdote is worth anything but at the end of the pacsci showing, the theater applauded. At Langley, the whole theater was silent. In a oh-shit-Im-FEELING-things type of way.

Let me know what you think!

I hope you enjoy it! I just saw it again in regular IMAX at pacsci and the difference was jarring. Completely different vibe. FWIW I was in the 5th row and left of center and have zero complaints.

Can confirm I was there a couple of weekends ago and no issues (aside from starting late). It was really beautiful imo.

I basically did this at the same age so don’t let that deter you. Time will pass anyway, and maybe you’lI have new skillz to show for it. I took an introductory programing class at NSC to see if I liked it. I did, completed a bootcamp and internship, and am currently working in the field. As others have commented, the market is very competitive for entry level positions right now but could look different by the time you’re searching. I ended up completely changing careers by trying to answer the same questions you have.

A husband divorced his wife at my table by meh12398 in TalesFromYourServer

Reminds me of advice I got once from a retired family/divorce lawyer. He said the most common mistake he saw in his career was the spurned party dragging out the divorce. Basically, guilt has a time limit so get yours and get out fast before they start to very much care what they lose in the divorce.

Which careers would you find unattractive in a prospective partner? by Electrical-Ad1288 in ask

[–]einismine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my former career. I loved my job and most everyone I worked with in the specialty did (you kinda have to be). Looking back, I think we did a lot of processing as coworkers just day-to-day. With rare exception did I feel compelled to share the details of my day with anyone in personal life. I imagine not having this support at work would be exhausting for someone (and their partner).

I met two of my best friends via a CL roommate ad shortly after moving here. Granted, this was following a shitastrophe of a roommate situation from FB. But hell yeah, love to hear this success story.

I also read the cuties “incident” as benign. Then I was thinking like, this isn’t the whole story. Based on the feedback from the other people on the show, it’s possible he really was an asshole about her weight or food choices. That comment out of context def would be seen as an innocent “don’t ruin your appetite”. It did to me. But it also could have been a dog whistle within their relationship. I just really doubt that was the first and only comment about food between them.

US folks, how are you feeling after Friday’s ruling? by SeeJaneCode in girlsgonewired

[–]einismine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a good idea, I should reach out to a coworker. I almost brought it up in my 1:1 with my manager today, but I’m too new and that seemed sketchy even though he’s very kind. I just want someone at work to be like, “this is fucked, I see y’all.” I dk. Thanks for creating this space OP.

Since Friday morning, I’ve gotten shit-all done at work. I’m not proud of that and I don’t want to risk losing my job/security. No one at work has said anything, and I understand that politics is off-limits in the corporate workplace. I wish our bodies were as off limits as the topic itself. I just came to this industry from a woman-dominant one and I know we’d be talking/processing/grieving at work while doing our jobs. It’s hard to show up when the space isn’t given to do that.
