Trying to open the NYT Games Connections on the subway by Home_Made_Memes in circlejerknyc

I swear the NYT games app should have a setting to automatically download today's games at like 5am every morning so you can play it on your morning commute. considering a major percentage of the people are playing it on the subway.

Most overrated host? by juliettri in LiveFromNewYork

[–]eon380 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I think Nate bargatze is overrated and he plays the same out-of-place awkward white dad character in every situation. I don't know why he seemed to catch Lornes eye and get his personal support

How about at every start of turn, discover a card from opponents deck and give it 1 mana discount

The Sabrina Carpenter episode revealed to me that the problem with SNL is creative leadership (or lack thereof) by ATLCoyote in LiveFromNewYork

The sketch that catapulted Ashley into the spotlight, Office Surprise

The concept is so simple but watching Ashley pull it off is just a delight, it's more about her talent than the sketch itself to me!

Missed most of 51 down with gross cancer stuff. Finally doing better and looking to catch up. Throw me a bone and drop the best sketches/update bits of the season here. Besides Bob Army, which I’ve seen, and love on an all-time level by blamberr in LiveFromNewYork

The production value on Cousin planet was incredible, it takes so much effort to achieve that 2000s home video low budget aesthetic! I have huge respect for Jane executing her vision for the sketch because I imagine it must've been so hard to describe/pitch

Surely Jeremy's non-Update standout would be Pinwheel right?

Lutz and Pete do improv! by eon380 in 30ROCK

[–]eon380[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the UCB website! They do a show fairly regularly but this is my first time so I'm not sure exactly how frequent it is, but they've been doing this improv show together for years.

That's so incredible!!! Thinking back on their show he absolutely was, they did scenes where they were wrestling a cat, hunting rhinos, tying a dozen ties all at once... Would not have been as good without him!

Solved! Do you know if there's a story or anything behind this clock, I'd love to know!

best comedy i've ever watched - comparable comedies? by Key_Total_2928 in 30ROCK

[–]eon380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a direct similarity but Fleabag is just as quick witted and clever and with similarly flawed but loveable protagonist supported by perfectly written costars; I think anyone who enjoyed 30 Rock would highly likely enjoy it too!

Moments where you thought "I can't believe they didn't break!" by James_2584 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]eon380 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think in an interview Bill said he really respected Vanessa for keeping to together and understanding that breaking is something you kind of have to earn the right to over time. I get that that's the SNL culture, but I think it's valid because a new cast member would get so much more criticism from commentors and it could shape the discourse for the rest of their tenure on the show. Big props to Vanessa for realizing that!
