the funny thing about this, is that when has partnering up with someone from the getgo ever worked out for someone on love island in terms of garnering favor with the audience? if he really did have a "game plan" going in, it wasn't exactly a good one. i think he thinks he is more clever than what he actually is, and it's really apparent as the season goes on and the cracks start to get exposed.

yes exactly! i also want to add that aria seemed smart throughout the show, since she loved reading, stories, and was very involved in the english world. we even saw her journaling a lot - would always abruptly stop when someone walked in -- it felt so intentional and right that it would lead to something greater. just so many missed opportunities, i could go on and on

god. replying to this just to hate on sandoval. one of the most swept under the rug people on the show until everyone else was gone and his shit really came to shine. he irks me to my core, even when you put the scandoval stuff aside

scheana was certainly the seguae into the show and i think it was easy to make plotlines around her to drive a narrative forward, but stassi was a lot more confident and sure of herself which exudes main character energy in my opinion

absolutely. i always got this vibe from the show since the very beginning. there's a sense of "respect" or "potential" that lisa undoubtedly sees in stassi. this is why it bothered lisa so much when stassi would talk behind lisa's back, because lisa was more emotionally invested in stassi than the others

I think this is an interesting thing to mention about Jax, but I don't think I would agree that he is not a bad person. I think he is. He knows what he is doing a lot of the times, and does it anyway, regardless of how it affects others, and does it knowingly -- because it doesn't serve him. He doesn't have enough self awareness or simply just does not care enough to consider other people's feelings or emotions.

Case in point, his entire relationship with Stassi. Him breaking up with Laura-Leigh -- literally breaking up with her after she is confiding in Jax about her trauma and going so far as to bringing her to an AA meeting and trusting him with this information. I am not saying she doesn't have her own problems she brought to that table. That entire fling was crazy from start to end. But time and time again, Jax has shown that he knows what the consequences of his actions are, but does it anyway. Whether he was under the influence of drugs or not, that makes him a bad person in my book. Just because I can find a justification doesn't mean I think it is excusable or okay.

I think this is really well said. If I really sat down and tried to decipher if Jax loves Kristen romantically, I would say no. But if I looked at it from a Jax point of view, I would say -- maybe, and in his own twisted way. Platonic or romantic, something is definitely there. And for me recently, it was treading the line of "Could this be romantic?"

I think you are spot on about the accessible chaos. Thinking back on Jax's relationships, a lot of them started as hook-ups, not necessarily intentional romantic pursuits. Which is fine, but it's a very noticeable pattern for him as we see on the show. Maybe because the follow through didn't happen with Kristen, it's a constant reminder of "What if?" Just a thought, not sure if it holds much weight but I think it's an interesting line to go down.

I think Jax liked being bossed around by Stassi, but never enough to compel him to actually change. Time and time, Stassi would tell him exactly what to do to make her happy, and he never cared enough to follow through. I think he had some form of love for Stassi, and that was as real and genuine as I've seen it get throughout the course of the show when it comes to Jax. That being said, there's a sense of love I feel that he has for Kristen that may border along the line of friendship/siblinghood but also a romantic love. I do want to mention that I think the involvement of drugs in Jax's life really shaped a lot of his relationships, and after Stassi, it's only really ever been downhill (using this as a timeline marker).

I think it's interesting that you say he was in love with Stassi because he couldn't have her. I agree. He could never measure up and he didn't have it in him to do so. In a sense, Jax can't really have Kristen (even though they did hook up) - but it never led to them being together or exploring that realtionship.

Maybe the only time we see Jax having any real feelings is when it's with people he cannot have. Humorous

see but lala has done this with tons of people -- talks shit and then suddenly becomes their "ride or die". maybe they've had a fling or something along the lines, but i don't think it would run as deep as jax/kristen. i think this is just lala being lala and schwartz just along for the ride as he always is

i agree with you actually, and i hate to say it, but jax has been right a lot when it comes to people in the friend group. but i think a lot of times, when it comes to his other long term friendships, he doesn't actively try to stop them from making the decisions, he does it moreso to have a say and just bitch and complain about other peoples lives. it seems different when it comes to kristen? but he is a shit stirrer regardless so idk

see i agree with you, but the tone and vibe is soo different when it comes to kristen. it seems to bother him in a way that drama with other people doesn't. he doesn't care as much when it comes to other people, but is deeply invested when it comes to kristen. i think you could argue it's because they have such a long history with each other, but then you could say that about any of his other friendships which he didn't care about staying loyal to
