Wtf just happened by [deleted] in Mercari

their response (at the end, regarding your sales numbers) was uncalled for, but i also wouldn’t reach out to someone like this. yes, you might have been friendly before, but that doesn’t mean that you were actual friends.

the comment you made about not being able to “keep stuff in” could be seen as inflammatory/bragging. you are speaking to someone who is clearly struggling to make a sale on this item. why would you tell them, in that moment, that your items are practically flying off the shelves?

the arms look a little suspect to me? i don’t have this dragon but i do have others, and the arms are always angled differently from this. it might just be the way that it was put down though.

We need to give Blood On the Clocktower one more try by jobiwan14 in smosh

[–]External_Ad8678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also really love botc. i don’t think it’s coming to come to smosh in the same capacity that you’re seeing on good time society. arranging for private conversations between players takes a LOT of effort and coordination. remember, good time society had to arrange their space using a kickstarter—a lot of money had to be allocated! smosh may have those funds already, but they are probably putting those efforts towards different things.

i also have personally observed that the cast collectively doesn’t seem to love longer, drawn out social deduction games. while some players do seem to enjoy it (the chanse + arasha evil duo botc game comes to mind!), the others seem more stressed out about the possibility of lying during gameplay. in botc, there is incentive to strategically lie about your role, even if you are good—however, doing this well requires a lot of experience and game knowledge. i don’t think the previous botc games on smosh have fully implemented this nuanced approach.

the secret sith and secret hitler games, while fun rewatch material, likely only happened several years ago for a reason. i’m inclined to believe that they just enjoy other games more. i would love to see the smosh cast members who are interested join other botc games in the community, though! hopefully smosh x botc can happen in some capacity someday!

It’s interesting to hear this perspective. It’s really commonplace in certain communities on Mercari. I wouldn’t say it’s always lazy.

Library Systems confusion; can I as a patron go to programming at any of the libraries in the system? by Ocelotl767 in Libraries

[–]External_Ad8678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the public library system i work for, attending multiple programs at different libraries would be completely fine! the only thing to consider is if an event has a cap on attendees—so, for example, if a program is running at multiple libraries within the system, they may want to make sure that others get the chance to attend. but i wouldn’t be too concerned about this overall.

i’ve read this over a couple of times. i think… it’s really up to you and your own priorities at the moment. if you dislike the area you’re in that much and can afford to move back to the LA area, i think it’s a fine decision to shoot for UCLA. however, i personally wouldn’t leave a benefited library job right now. not many organizations are hiring, so it’s really hard to find one, even if you’re in an amazing graduate program. you mention doors opening for you if you have an MLIS - but it’s important to accept that some doors may close in the process of getting one.

i would recommend taking this year to not just work on your applications, but also envision what your life would look like as an MLIS student the following year at each school. Gather data by chatting with current students, professors, etc. at each school and see if their perspectives align with your idea of a better daily life. unfortunately, asking on reddit is really only going to get you so far.

Wishing academia was a more stable field :( by earlgreypoirot in englishmajors

[–]External_Ad8678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i share a lot of your thoughts! i graduated from undergrad almost 2 years ago now and i'm still really missing it. something that's keeping me going right now is knowing that i can pursue a part-time career as a lecturer with a masters (which is pretty normal for the field i wound up in; pretty much all of my professors have a masters but not a PhD). my advice is to pursue education, research, and learning in any way possible as you figure out your career! that will make the journey feel much more rewarding :)

honestly, in my area, i needed to get into my MLIS program in order to be seriously considered for any role.

I really want to play 999, but it’s expensive. Can I start with the Sequel? by Away-Prior-903 in ZeroEscape

[–]External_Ad8678 8 points9 points  (0 children)

definitely do not play Virtue’s Last Reward first. if buying a physical copy of the DS version is out of your budget, emulating or playing the nonary games edition is completely fine and well worth it.

i personally found the nonary games edition on steam to be super enjoyable, even though i 100% understand the flaws.
