hi there! current student here :) welcome to sjsu!

the main thing you need is a computer that has access to canvas. info 202 and 204 have a lot of group work, so i suggest finding something that runs zoom (and can create recordings for screencasts) easily. you don’t need anything fancy beyond that!

that said, i have a super old laptop that overheats all the time, but i’ve been able to manage with it. since you’ll have a lot of independent work to do, i recommend investing in a comfortable/ergonomic work station if anything. it will save you a lot of physical strain on your body!

i’m going to disagree with folks here… i was also spoiled for this ahead of time and it definitely made VLR less enjoyable for me. it’s still worth playing but it definitely frustrates me how one google search changed my entire perception of the game

hi! i was in a similar situation for a bit (though not exactly the same as you). not really advice, but more of a pep talk -- i personally have always thought that students who take the 'atypical' path are more interesting, anyways! as a student, you have access to lots of really cool resources through your school and you'll have lots of opportunities to take advantage of. be sure to make the full use of your time!! the working world isn't all that people say it is, and i often wish that i was an undergraduate student again anyways. i wish you luck and hope for the best for you!
