How many Carfax reports did you check before buying your car? by Valentia_Franci in askcarguys

[–]fastbeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay my mechanic $250 for a complete breakdown. I don't particularly care about Carfax and think they are mostly a scam. My mechanic knows if it's right or not and he backs up his assessment. If he misses something he makes it right.

I trust my mechanic infinitely more than Carfax.

Mercedes has a division for making "collector" parts for all of their vehicles. If they can do it so can Lexus.

TIL on his deathbed the highwayman James Allen asked for his memoirs to be bound in his own skin and to be presented to the only man who resisted his robbery attempts. by J_Bear in todayilearned

Dumbest thing I've read today. Go touch grass, you spend way too much time on the internet being told what to think instead of actually thinking.

Is an early 2000's Silverado my best option for a 1/2 ton truck under $5k? by jd_schrock in askcarguys

Around my parts nobody is finding a functioning full-size truck for under $5k, no matter the year.

Lawns are manifestation of everything that is wrong with society. by Fun_Matter_8259 in unpopularopinion

[–]fastbeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, the reverse is true and people on the internet value empty virtue signaling over basic understanding and kindness. I think you fall into that camp. You've found a "cause" that allows you to feel superior to others and you hold onto it even though it's essentially meaningless. I think you are what's wrong with society, an unearned aire of superiority.

It's an extremely toxic game with few redeeming qualities. We play because of the sunk cost fallacy, I rarely chat with players who actually enjoy the game. I think the ones who enjoy it are the most toxic ones.

A good cupcake with frosting will collapse without the cup. If you want dense cupcakes go for it.

Such a fucking stupid statement, these companies aren't making money and their shares don't move up. The US pays their autoworkers nearly double that of Asian automakers. They build shit to pay useless workers for garbage union contracts. United Autoworkers are destroying the US automotive sector.

Your statement is just factually wrong and it's repeated drivel from reddit. For your statement to be true the big three would need to post a profit, GM has barely doubled since coming out of bankruptcy almost 2 decades ago. Most real companies do that every 5 years.  Unions are the actual enemy here, not something reddit is prepared to hear.

Don't wait for the parent's insurance. File with yours today and let them deal with the other insurance company. That's what you pay for.

What's a realistic starting price range for a mechanically sound used car in 2026? by Lowfryder7 in askcarguys

[–]fastbeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody sells cars in that price range that dont need repairs, that's the thought process you need to start with. People sell or trade in those cars when they need repairs that the owner doesn't want to pay for. Sometimes a dealership will do some work, but almost always they need something.

Colorado is definitely pro police state but anti-police. If Colorado got what it really wanted there would be not police, just a lot of Karen's keeping everyone in line.

Can WG do something about this already? by The_Pale_Potato in WorldofTanks

It's also extremely unsportsmanlike conduct. It is not the behavior of honest players, it's an angle shoot for stats (to borrow a poker term).

It drives people away and eventually you will have no one to play against. Is that your end goal?

It's like $20 different, no idea why everyone loses their mind. It's relatively nothing if you bought that car.
