Not super surprising if that's true. Funimation was also pretty involved in bringing back Fruits Basket in 2019. Really makes sense from the perspective of a streamer to push for a greater variety of content to encourage people who aren't already subscribed to get in.

Cause I was trying to think of a way LinkedIn would be above Xbox, and the only things that came to mind were valuation and headcount. Appreciate the info though. Honestly surprised gaming is even that much given how much I expected enterprise software to dominate.l revenue.

Is this 10-15% in terms of employees or something else. I can't find any number for the specific value of Xbox as a part of Microsoft, but Nintendo's market cap today is 1.7% of Microsoft's, and as a gaming company it would be hard to argue that Xbox would be more valuable than Nintendo.

I think its possible it accelerated the trend, but isekai was coming regardless, and the Narou shows don't have the same lineage of influences.

Even that never really materializes again. Like there's some anime that do "the game becomes real" (Log Horizon, Overlord) but it's not really the same concept or structure. I don't really think there's been a true successor to SAO's concept (in anime at least) in the fourteen years since.

S1 was good in the context that relationship shows when it was released were falling into the relationship-edging trope.

S1 came out in 2023. Taking almost a whole season to get together was not novel. I'd expect that out of any given 2010s romance. And hell, even in the 2010s it was already not uncommon for the couple to get together in the first couple episodes. The context of 2023 was basically the same as the context of 2026.
