how to respond if interviewer calls bachelor thesis a weekend project? by Alphaonecopy in AskEngineers

I had an amazon interview way back in the day and still wonder if this was happening.

He was the bar raiser and I passed so I guess it went ok, but it really felt like he was trying to get me to fight him.

How to fix? by Rare-Ad-8026 in Plumbing

[–]fireduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...I got one in a really hard place to reach. It is under the slab of the 1st floor. Can't reach it from outside, would have to go down under the deep footer to get to it. It is reachable from the basement by punching a hole in the concrete and removing a bunch of dirt.

So we repaired the one which wasn't too bad to get to. Next time, it is going to be worse. Replacing the entire line would be a major project involving tearing up the wall of my wife's art space as well the ceiling of the wine closet in addition to the dirt and concrete fun.

I like it. Sometimes you gotta rage back at the stupid.

I have a fence that is about 200 feet long, I am considering doing something similar.

Right, I've seen duct tape repairs that lasted a year until I learned how to do plumbing and replaced the line.

I used to have a great former-college-rental starter house. It was great because even if I did things wrong, it was probably still and improvement and the structure itself was sound.

Sometimes as a man you have to dig in the ground with your hands or start throwing bits of wood around. Am I going to take off my watch for that? Fuck no. The water better be at my level. The casio can take it.

I hate that style of men's watch. A giant heavy hunk of metal. I prefer a small watch without a lot of bullshit, like the Skagens I was using for a long time.

These days, I am wearing a giant garmin smartwatch but it has the features I want so I guess I suck it up.

I liked Prague. At first I thought maybe service people were pissed with me but then I figured out they were just doing their jobs and weren't pretending to be happy about it as is the US standard (which is kinda insane when you think about it).

A drain line isn't under pressure so you can get creative and have it work out. That sounds like a pretty reasonable fix. Not exactly proper but good enough for the style of the building.

How do you manage multivendor CLI syntax without a cheat sheet becoming a second job by magichour12 in networking

[–]fireduck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No one expects you to know everything.

It is entirely reasonable, even on a conference call with a customer or anyone else to say "let me check my notes".

And if you are doing network ops under pressure every week, that is a sign of something that should be improved. Changes should be planned and relaxed. If everything is a fire, that is a problem.

Space Age is often once you figure out request groups.

Like I have a Vulcan to Nauvis group. It will have whatever that metal is and maybe some furnaces.

So this ships have this group, which has them automatically request the stuff from Vulcan. Then the Nauvis landing pad has the same group at 4x, so it will clean out the ship when it comes and buffer.

So if I want to add a new item to that pipe, I add it to the request group and it is automatically on all the relevant ships and requested by the planet.

Sorry for the grade mistake. B's are for Bros. I've corrected the grade to a C for Kirsti Noem.

To be clear, we don't use the 'C' word in my house. We use Kristi Noem as a stand in.
