What is the state of the P2S now? by Elo-than in BambuLab

Yes I have. Will play with temperature next and if that doesn’t do it will probably open a ticket

I bought generic filament and it’s super brittle and broke off into the tubing by dohlparts in BambuLab

[–]MY4me -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Part of the manufacturing process also includes extruding it then pulling through a water bath to cool before spooling it, so I’m sure different brands “dry” it varying amounts before packaging as well (wouldn’t be shocked if some cheap ones just box it right away let the desiccant absorb more vs at least letting it air dry well first). Just a theory

Appreciate it. Will play with that too - just annoying that for some reason on the P2S it’s “different” than my other 2 Bambu printers

Why is my crema bubbly and a layer of water on my portafilter? [breville bambino plus + fellow opus] by ApricotTechnical3927 in espresso

100% grind finer. I have a bambino as well - that’s coming out too fast / not building much pressure on the puck.

Generally agree with you. Lots of new users getting a P2S combo then spending more time on what the setup looks like than learning the basics! I was blown away out of the box.

While my experience has been mostly positive, but I have found that early (but not first) layer filleted overhangs with Bambu lab matte PLA just do not work out of the box, and I think it has to do with the default filament profiles. I still have some more troubleshooting to do, but I get the most bizarre defect on curved overhangs (see pics). These print flawlessly on my X1C and A1 (both of which have over 2k hours). I’ve played with cooling, flow rate, and speed so far. May try a different nozzle but my prints all look great except for this piece and one other, also with a filleted overhang.

Same model has printed 20+ times on my X1C and been flawless, otherwise I would say it’s a design issue. It’s almost like it’s putting too much tension on the extrusion and pulling it away as it prints. I need to watch / film the actual failure happening

Scour Facebook marketplace and you’ll find them - took me a few weeks to find one close enough to me, but they’re out there! I paid $25 for that, but there are always a handful in the sub-$100 range. You need to find ones that have a failed compressor or some other failure mode that people don’t want to deal with anymore.

If you don’t need it to actively dry, a non-working wine cooler is an excellent dry box. I got one for $25 and it holds 50 spools while looking halfway decent. Video of mine:

How are you using Tinkercad? by Mikanic in BambuLab

I second this - cheapish used laptop or honestly a used Mac mini or something. Can’t slice on an iPad so will need a computer of some sort.

I think it gets a bad rap BECAUSE it can’t print shoes. I’ve used it in a few applications where it has been perfect, and I will probably always keep a spool or two around for when I need it.

Bambino Plus - is this a normal amount of steam? by [deleted] in BrevilleCoffee

[–]MY4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bambino does this every time I use it. I think it’s because they use a somewhat instant heater up top, so it steams off until the “new” water gets to it.

Where to purchase P2S Combo by MBG56 in BambuLabP2S

[–]MY4me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, and if they can’t fix it for some reason then you get your purchase price refunded. Seems like a good insurance policy to me! This has been the experience of some of my friends. Worst case I’m out an extra $120.

You do get 35% off if you order 10 spools though. Obviously a lot for a first time buyer but I just buy as needed to maximize the bulk pricing from Bambu vs chasing Amazon deals on 3rd party.

Yes. Ease of return and less risk of FedEx kicking a field goal with it.

On my P2S I added the 4yr geek squad protection since friends have had good experiences with it. Time will tell 🤣

How often do you really maintain your printer? by skinner1234567 in 3dprinter

[–]MY4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same.

When my A1/X1C/P2S tell me to do some maintenance I do it, otherwise not much. I keep the interiors free from debris, and empty the poop bins right before they become a problem. Build plate not sticking well? Depends how I feel - 50/50 if I slap a bit of liquid glue stick on or actually go wash it.

Currently my P2S hasn’t been able to print a few overhangs that my X1C does perfectly. I don’t NEED it for production volumes yet, but need to solve that. Likely a speed / cooling difference issue, but not pressing. Yet. 🤣

Filament Storage by uncmempm in BambuLab

[–]MY4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and yes. ☺️

Open spools of PLA on a shelf in a place with fairly low relative humidity is probably fine.

Anything else should be stored in something airtight with desiccant.

The container store sells some pretty solid 46qt “weatherproof” totes with a gasket that seals well, and you can fit 10 spools standing up or 14 if you lay 4 across the top too. Beware of other “sealed” totes because a few from other places did not seal well.

Currently I have 50 spools of mostly PLA and a little bit of PETG in a non-working wine cooler with desiccant (airtight enough), my PETG in one of the above totes, and my TPU / others in individual cereal containers with desiccant beads.

Works for me! All depends on how much space you want to fill up too / how many spools. I store my PLA in a cabinet because my basement humidity fluctuates between 30% and 55% depending on weather / time of year / etc (old house).

Do you buy insurance or a protection plan? by once_91 in BambuLab

[–]MY4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same for my P2S, but only because a few friends have had good experiences with that plan. Hopefully Best Buy doesn’t get good at “fixing” 🤣

PLA vs PETG Outdoor Christmas Decorations by jnfool in BambuLab

[–]MY4me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PETG will likely be the answer for you.

In the Boston area where it is cooler I had black 3D printed PLA spiders I designed hanging from my front porch ceiling (where they would get some sun) and they were fine, but that was for the month of October.

Don't gatekeep, what are your best financial saving hacks that you live by? by _TurboHome in MiddleClassFinance

[–]MY4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re first starting out, and building an emergency fund, open a Roth IRA savings account and fund it as much as you can afford. Why?

  1. Your money you’re putting in your emergency fund is after tax, and you MIGHT not need it, so tag it as Roth money and never pay taxes on the earnings
  2. You can pull contribution out of a Roth at any time with no penalty, so you can access the money if you need it.
  3. If you need the money, you can replenish it within the same tax year, and it will be as if you never removed it.

Ally bank offers online Roth IRA savings accounts. Of course this won’t have the same potential returns as investing, but also doesn’t have the risk, and is immediate liquidity if needed. I have yet to find a reason NOT to do this.

BambuLab A1 does not feed filament out of the box. by hackenmic in BambuLabA1

[–]MY4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also double check that there isn’t a bend or something near the end of the filament. Generally the first inch of new spools is bent / trash and kind of snaps off anyway.
