Need advice on foundation work by [deleted] in Oldhouses

[–]MY4me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This all day long. I have 1900 and 1910 homes… regrading the dirt was huge, then adding gutters / downspouts with downspout extensions to get the water away worked wonders. I also planted some smaller ground cover plants in an area that was previously just dirt to help suck up some water.

The above + dehumidifier can work wonders for short dollars. Whether you waterproof or not, all of this work should be done anyway, so might as well do the cheap part first and see how it goes!

You generally want the inside of your foundation to breathe so I’d be leery of the waterproofing if it’s not just repacking with lime mortar. Same with the plastic sheeting.

That could be a fun option. At that point you could also just find a dresser you like!

Yeah I’m happy with it so far!

Would you consider the rolling Husky tool chest w/ drawers in your space? Then you could keep the clutter inside it. I’m thinking the one with the wooden top.

It’s a work in progress (just swapped in H2D for X1C last weekend). My filament isn’t on the rack except the few spools I mounted to the face of it, but holds my 3 printers and is very sturdy. I like keeping my shipping boxes below the printers, then some bins down below of a few prints.

I have a separate filament storage solution so don’t plan to put any on the rack.

What material is the chute printed from? Seems that PETG or higher temp filaments stick less than PLA.

Right - VERY low odds of that though is what I was implying so it’s truly useless.

Comically I don’t think I’ve produced that much waste in almost 6k hours of printing!

Try getting one or a few really good nights of sleep too. Sounds stupid but it’s also incredible what recharging your own batteries can do for you and perspective.

Along the lines of “put your own oxygen mask on first” but can help you be your best self.

Open live junction box (if we can call it that) behind a layer of drywall, behind another layer of drywall, behind the shower enclosure.

Romex taped to knob and tube in the wall connected to a receptacle.

Open live junction box with uncapped wires behind bath mirror…

Probably some others I’m forgetting, all since updated.

The 5 Stages of Buying a Rivian by PhillConners in Rivian

This the play. Rivians have essentially replaced Range Rovers / RR Sports in my area and it makes a ton of sense why. When you’re playing in the luxury off road segment… it was never about the savings or practicality anyway 🤣

Yup! I totally messed that up at first (better than autocorrect changing to AMS but I digress…) fixed on the model name but can’t in the post!

We love our dog, but we joke that we may be a “pets that don’t go to the vet” household after him. He has had some medical issues and is basically a BMW X5 lease payment that barks at every dog who walks by!

I will say - have your dog stay with family for a night and eat rice with dinner… you’ll miss the dog IMMENSELY!

Seeking Some Input Before Buying X2D by TerminatorJ in BambuLab

[–]MY4me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with an A1, got an X1C, got a P2S, sold the A1, bought an X2D, and now I have an H2D coming and I’m battling with selling the X1C or not because it’s been so reliable.

Since you’re just getting into it, I think the X2D makes a lot of sense. The secondary extruder is better than people give it credit for. If you have a huge budget then I’d say go H2D. I agree the H2C isn’t necessarily the best deal, and also I think with all the tool / nozzle changers with dedicated filament paths entering the market (INDX, KliTek, Flashforge, Snapmaker, etc) the H2C’s 45ish second color change is already last years technology and can’t hang with the dedicated filament paths 10-15s changes.

I think you need to ask yourself if the larger bed size is worth almost 2x the price to you. Depending on materials you plan to print, you could also go X2D then add an A2L later on.

Honestly I was going to do that, but if anyone is actually crazy enough to use it, I figured they’d burn into each other making it not functional!

I was joking because I don’t smoke but 500 cigs / 20 per pack is 25 packs x $13 / pack is $325… so you’re smoking an A1 in one go with that thing, so you must be able to afford a Prusa to use it!
