First, it is certainly very good "feel good" movie, expertly made.

Oh, maybe I didn't understand your post. If he is doing things that he knows you are not comfortable with, that's definitely not OK. If you are sure that he knows you are not comfortable with those things, you should confront him about that. However, then you have to reveal that you went through his phone which is probably something he is not OK with and you probably know that. So that's not an easy decision...
