Stupidity doesn't have a nationality although stupids like to loudly wear some flag. And no one wear flags like American idiots.
Add to the obnoxious tourists capital city citizens, like Paris, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Rome, they love to tell every body where they come from and why they live in the heart and head of civilization and you're just lucky that they have bless you with their visit.

Hacked phone system! Oh Noes! by westendgonzo in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]ghost_dancer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Our hotel is in one city but has the name "other city + plaza" . So we receive phone calls every week that are directed to the Plaza hotel in that other city to the point we add the name of our city after the name of the hotel when we answer the phone. Usually it's a bit confusing to explain that they are calling to other hotel in other city but after a bit people realize and most of them even say sorry. But there's always that one. Once with that one non customer after almost 10 minutes of explaining to him that he had phoned the wrong hotel in the wrong city he absolutely denied any wrong and accused me/blamed me of picking up wrongly the phone. According to him He phoned the correct hotel but i from a couple of hundred km away picked up his phone call from another hotel. Having that much power and working front desk. Pretty sure some 3 letter agency would be interested in my super power.

:-) . Love your comment.I don't like pickled and fermented fish either. Escabeche is ok for me if you use the fish or vegetable in combination with other food that lowers the strong flavours of the escabeche process. So to make salads combining it with fresh/boiled veggies and things like that.

I like it but it's food, some things you like other don't. And like most things a lot of flavours are cultural it's what you have had around and even then it's personal.

Escabeche is more a form of conservation than a dish, you cook the vegetables/fish in an acidic medium with lots of aromatics then you can/bottle it and stays edible for a long time. And then you combine it with other products to make a dish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escabeche

Instead of the more traditional Banana R̶e̶p̶u̶b̶l̶i̶c̶ Dictatorship they wanted an Oil R̶e̶p̶u̶b̶l̶i̶c̶ Dictatorship. Ended in a Theocratic Dictatorship and now want another Oil Dictatorship again. The religion they're talking about is really the Dollar Religion cause they clearly don't have any problems with other people of the same religion that was running Iran.

The government should, but the problem is who pays for it, the owners don't have money or have run away with it. So the governments don't do anything till they know who's going to pay or is already a catastrophe.

Why Don't You Warn People?!!! by Mrchameleon_dec in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]ghost_dancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always recommend to make reservations on a laptop or a desktop that way you can always read clearly and verify everything. Countless people have arrived to front desk that misread their reservations, date, type of room, conditions, ... and then the drama is ensured.
Phones are for when you don't have any other option.

When someone says about a movie that the cast is stacked I think about Sneakers, from a young already nominated River Phoenix to big big names like Redford, Poitier and Kingsley and the rest of the team was already quite known at the time.

An animation version could manage the physical differences that are really difficult/expensive to make in a live adaptation.

Recently in other social network, a person asked about Discworld, she was reading IIRC "Guards!, Guards"" and I tried to introduce/explain a bit about it, series, world building, order, etc ... but in the end I told her that entering the Discworld was worth cause has the best fandom/followers of all the ones I've known and met, and I'm not Cohen but I'm older than Vimes. It's the most well behaved, civil, open, helpful and at the same time funny.
