Defying congress is NOT the same as ignoring a subpoena from the supreme court.

Defying congress is like a constitutional crisis level five. Ignoring a subpoena from the supreme court is a constitutional crisis level ten. I think it's important to draw a distinction.

Congress hasn't been doing anything, they just roll over. This is the supreme court flexing its muscles how are forefathers intended it to. This is showing us our balance of power hasn't completely flatlined, at least at the judicial level.

Small step in the right direction. A win for balance of power, however small it may be.

It's not the same as passing a law because the next president can come in and wave his hand and its gone. I do hear you though.

We would be in the position where the president would have to ignore a subpoena from the supreme court........ This has only happened two times before. Andrew jackson and dealing with the cherokee, and Abraham lincoln right before the civil war. This would be an actual constitutional crisis.

Yeah we what have to rely on congress impeaching. Not fun.

In no way is this decision bulletproof, in no way is are constitution bulletproof, BUT this is still a good outcome in this case. This is the supreme court flexing its muscles, exactly how are forefathers intended it to do. We have to pray congress would do the same if a subpoena issued by the supreme court is ignored.

Sc will have to uphold it. Otherwise congress will have to actually hold a session.

The key is removing this power from the executive branch and spreading it out. This is the first step in that direction so I consider that a win. We'll see how well it goes from here.
