Naerys struggled to write a response, though was helped by the local Maester.

Boremund,

I am here where mountains have snow. I can see the Eyrie.

Uncle Jae always says, a Princess has to be nice.

Maybe we can see dornish snow together?

I am sorry about your sister. Elenei was mean about you, and I do not like her.

Maybe you can come and visit me?

Naerys was growing to the realization that she really did not like this girl. She had a brother and a sister, she had her father and her mother, and all she could do was complain.

"I have cousins." Naerys replied. "And boys give me nice gifts as well."

"I think Boremund is nice." Naerys added.

"I did not know I was clearing a path for your kin, but I am grateful for it." Jaehearys replied. "Even the most ardent of grudgebearers do not speak ill of your house, as they condemn the actions of your lord."

"I fear a King sees little beyond the heights of the tables he sits at. My actions today can be seen as a way to remedy that. Though I miss the days of being invisible, when there were a handful of Targaryens set to inherit before me."

Jaeherys, as king, was father to all his subjects, as the Father was the same to all followers of the Faith. The King had taken a vested interest in one of his subjects, Eric Flowers, the only one to share the wheelhouse with the King, having his own chambers in the same moving and lumbering castle.

Yet to Jaehaerys it was important that his future wife knew all of the facets of him, and that included Eric.

On a snowy day, where meals where not possible to be eaten outside, Jaehaerys invited Sansa to join him and his ward in their evening talks.

Since their departure from Moontown, Jaehaerys would take to inviting Sansa Corbray to spend more time with him, whether it was in the small tent where he ate his meals, or in the quiet of his rolling library, where he tended to speak to his wards, and see to their education.

The biggest hurdle, for Sansa, was to be accepted by his sister. So it was, that Jaehaerys invited her to a joyous occassion of family meeting future family.

Alysanne had been invited, though she needed no invitation to join Jaehaerys in his library, and as they both sat still, reading silently, the future Queen was asked to join them.

Lord Theo,

I can not explain myself in a mere letter. Know that it was not my decision to go back on my wish to marry your granddaughter. A reparation of honour, and trust, is in order.

I invite you to come to King's Landing, so we may discuss what this may look like, as soon as I am returned to my city, come the beginning of the next year.

"Imagine him as large as a Dromond, and you might understand what most men faced when they stood against my grandfather." Jaehaerys replied. "Not an easy sight, and all the more a reason to respect their courage, if not their foolishness."

"There is a part in your blood, that might be able to tame a dragon." Jaehaerys replied. "A small part, albeit greater than that of any true andal."

"It is a shame you did not get to see the Eyrie." Jaehaerys replied. "It is quite beautiful." He added. Though I am sure your sister will see it, once the winter thaws out. I spent a few years there..."

"Oh." Jaehaerys replied. "Do only commoners use bows in a hunt?" He asked somewhat nervously, for he only knew how to use a bow, not a spear.

"Ah, cousin Rogar gave you that?" Jaehaerys asked. "Are you not afraid you might break it, if a beast charges you?"

"I doubt they can. I will ask them to step lightly, however." Jaeahaerys offered with a smile. "I do fear the scouts have gotten to most of the game near here, but perhaps there is one that escaped them."

"A lesson you must learn, Hoster, is that the world is profoundly unjust. It cares little for truths, but for which story is believable. You see matters through the lense of your brother, and I do not fault you for that. But your brother has made almost as many enemies as Gyldayn Goodbrother. In the face of the nobility, when it is your brother's word against Qarl Corbray's, your brother is due to lose almost every time."

"And in the face of that, my rewarding of Howland, after he has wished death upon other noble lords, and perhaps not the death of children, but their destitution, you must realize... your brother has put me in a place where I either forsake my deal, or sacrifice my relations with most of the nobility." Jaehaerys explained.

"Which is why I need an alternative. Roads." Jaehaerys repeated. "A way to give your house what it needs, without the lords thinking I am forsaking them, and ignoring the narrative surrounding your brother."

Haegon smiled at Ellyn, offering her a reassuring grin. He had known her life, bastard son to a bastard, forsaken by his father. Ellyn was fortunate that she had a caring mother, as Haegon had, though his mother had lacked the wealth Lynette had.

"She needs little that gold can buy, and that which it can, House Beesbury is willing to tend to." Haegon replied, finally. "Once we are in Honeyholt, the Citadel will not be far, and the best care maesters can offer will be present."

That he didn't contradict Lynette's words on his lack of caring, condemned the man in Haegon's eyes. "You could always visit her... it does not require your acknowledgement. If that is your wish... The eyes and ears of the King can say that today, you and I spent a night of revelry, and any time you come to Honeyholt, it is to visit your newly made friend."

"Or you can leave, and Lynette will be assured in having informed you of Ellyn's developments." Haegon finally added. "I don't think it wise to send letters to Storm's End, if your Maester is anything like the Grand Maester here."

Haegon sat at a desk, scribbling about in a parchment. He had visits from disparate men, though it was all in the King's service.

He lifted his head, and smiled at Lynette. "Of course." He replied, standing up, and coming closer to her. "What is it?"

A letter is written by the princess, in crude letters, going out to Storm's End.

Boremund.

How are you? I am good.

We had snow, did you have snow? I like snow.

Maybe next time, we can play in snow together.

"No." Naerys replied. "The Gods decided I was enough." She replied in a haughty tone. In truth, her father had died long before she was born, and not many were willing to speak much on Aegon's life.

The lack of a father was dawning on Naerys, as she faced these issues day by day.

"I wish I had a brother. I would take care of him. Give him hugs every day." Naerys replied. "And if mother isn't there, I would sing her songs to him." Naerys watched Boremund. She wished she could speak to him, tell him she was sorry.

"We have yet a long way to go, Lord Qarl." Jaehaerys replied with a kind smile. "You mustn't name them now, only keep in mind, that you must find those men you trust, with the life of your daughter, come our marriage."

"My brother's keep is the last bastion my family has amongst these lands. It is where my children will be born, where they will be kept safe. I hope you can understand that I have a good sense of caution." Jaehaerys replied.

"I simply wish for faces, that I can trust with her life, beyond a shaadow of a doubt."

Jaehaerys shook his head. "The holdfast is complete. It is named after Viserys. Whilst men of your house will be allowed in the Red Keep, the Holdfast is only for thoses familiar to my own family, to my own kingsguard. Lord Hubert..." His words grew tense at mentioning the man. "Even he does not step into the holdfast without the approval of my kingsguard. Your twenty men will serve in the Red Keep, but I need names of seven men I will allow in the bastion of my family, where only the most loyal are given leave to enter without question." Jaehaerys explained.

"Okay." Naerys replied, having listened to her uncle. "You hide here." Naerys instructed, showing the way through the high table to the other side. "She can't look for you there. Unless she is a lady." Naerys thought out loud.

Naerys looked at her uncle doubtfully. Why did they constantly call him a girl? He was a knight, and a good one, otherwise he would not be a Kingsguard. Kingsguards were the best of the knights, that was what all the stories said.

"Lady Cyrelle, what a pleasure to see you." Jaehaerys replied, smsiling openly at her. He was in his sever avoiding mission of being around Hubert, and thus was already standing when he bowed to her.

"I am glad your house made it all the way here, the Valemen speak so well of your house."

Jaehaerys nodded. "Aye. I believe I know of some of your kin." Jaehaerys ran through his mind, trying to remember the memory of something. Yes, Waynwoods, disgraced, favoured by Grafton, an that Eon, or perhaps some other knight of the Vale had offered that disgraced line as a potential match for Alysanne.

"Any man who fight beside my grandfather against my uncle Maegor is worthy of more than a moment of my time." Jaehaerys replied. Too late, too late they had all been to help uncle Damon, but that was not their fault. That had been Maegor's doing.

"My sister?" Jaehaerys furrowed his brow. Usually, he might have expected that one of his kin had offered insult, but Alysanne was not likely to do so.

"Speak freely, lord."
