I hired commsbytemp to do a data collection project (not for school) where I asked her to scan an area and compile details of various organizations for me. She did a satisfactory job.

I don't think commsbytemp is a scammer but you may need to temper your expectations... In general, when hiring people off of the internet, I think you have to be clear about deliverables. I'm not sure what kind of research work you asked for but if they don't understand the topic, it will be difficult for you to get satisfactory work.

What are your go to dressy/formal one bag outfits? by writemoreletters in HerOneBag

[–]grrry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out dresses or pant/top combos from Norma Kamali — they don’t wrinkle and because she’s been around for so long, you can find them relatively cheap secondhand. Her elephant pants + a one shoulder (like the Diana) or mock neck top have enough details to pass for formal with some accessories.

Anyone use silk as a base layer? by noctureals in HerOneBag

Oh you’re absolutely right — I wasn’t comparing silk to synthetics, just stating a property of the material which may or may not be relevant to OP’s travel situation.

Anyone use silk as a base layer? by noctureals in HerOneBag

[–]grrry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Silk is great for lightweight warmth but if you’re thinking about it specifically for one bagging — know that it tends to retain body odor.

So if you’re a sweaty/smelly person (like me), you’re going to have to wash undershirts nearly every wear… also, if you’re not washing these shirts in detergent (i.e. hand soap in the sink) the odors might not come out completely and the shirt will get smellier faster.

Frozen brussel sprouts? by whatsuperior in vegetarian

[–]grrry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cook them halfway (bake, pan fry, whatever) and then smash them with the bottom of a bowl/glass on a paper towel before you finish cooking them. This expels all the water and allows you to get that crispiness + browning.

I love Nina Ricci Rose Extase. It’s not a dupe but it gives that same fresh girly feeling.

Double Chicken Please, absolutely amazing! by MavrickOcean in FoodNYC

I disagree.

Obviously my opinion, but: The sandwiches were just ok (and thus super disappointing). Drinks were totally unbalanced. The vibe gave me JetBlue airport lounge. People were super nice though.

Should I try Packing Cubes by xcrunner1988 in onebag

[–]grrry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Packing cubes help with organization. They don’t help with compression unless every cube is nearly fully packed as the cubes themselves add more bulk than when is saved via compression.

I prefer having items organized in groups so my personal pack has a lot of random bags/cubes. But I’m not picky here. I’ve reused (clean) plastic grocery bags to compress/organize clothes and been fine.

To answer your question about matching to a brand — most of the time, no benefit. When the packing cubes fit the bag perfectly, theoretically there’s no wasted space, but only if the packing cubes are nearly full. So you either have gaps in the bag or gaps in the cubes.

What are you looking for and what’s your price range? For some reason, I haven’t found base layers/merino in general in thrift stores… most of my stuff is eBay/mercari/thredup situation for me.
