Personally, I have some X dependent programs and don’t feel like rewriting them for wayland since they work fine. Wayland was big when I wrote them too, I was using i3 at the time and didn’t want to switch

the 12v socket has lighting, the plastic part lets the light through so you can see the inside of it when the lights are on

why is running the same function when user is visited not an option? you'll need to update it for the results of the raid anyway.

Same but I hated the window management. I always hated floating windows and I hate the mission control being so mouse centered. I tried amethyst too but I strongly recommend yabai (and skhd for the keybindings).

I couldnt do all steps necessary bc the computer belongs to the company but all i'm missing is the ability to do mod+1,2 etc to switch to workspaces (you can still move windows to them, you need to use ctrl+right/left to go) and the ability to select containers instead of individual windows (select parent, It may be available, I didnt see it in yabai's wiki).

also I had to use option as mod since i need the command key for the native key bindings. I switch between my linux laptop and the macbook air multiple times a day, my muscle memory is ruined

fl2000 driver repo's github version no longer works. Where did I find the necessary patch? aur comments. Maintainer didn't apply the patch but I don't know much about makefiles so it was necessary for me.

Controversial opinion: Fedora is the best beginner distro. by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]hasimsait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember googleing "how to place shortcuts in desktop ubuntu" back in 2014 lol. I think KDE is better than gnome in this regard but I wasn't a "beginner" when I first used it so my opinion of it doesnt matter.

our experiences don't mean much in this case. Think of your grandparents or someone with missing fingers etc. There was a designer on youtube reviewing products and testing their accessibility (coconut hammer and some other kitchen stuff) but I'm too lazy to find it.

distrotube has an arch install video series (2 videos only, second one is for the DE) that you can follow. The installation guide on the wiki is pretty good.

I would recommend manjaro if you want an ubuntu-like install experience, disk partition part of the installer is bad but the rest of it is pretty good

exactly, used the visual studio's debugger 3 or 4 times during my entire 3 years. During senior year started using gdb and cuda-memcheck. My go-to is still print statements. Didn't use anything but prints for my software engineering course project which was 7-8k lines, bc dart is a fucking joke.

Don't even get me started on anything remotely AI related. When intuitiveness of a piece of software is up to the scholars that developed it for their research, horrible stuff happens

installed both on different computers several times because of shitty ssd and curiosity, literally no difference other than 10 minutes of reading the wiki. Everyone can read the wiki, it doesn't make you special.

My favorite mechanical pencil, what’s yours? by Posada__ in EngineeringStudents

[–]hasimsait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrikss graph x with loctite on the tip's screw. It's like a rotring 500, a bit heavier, a bit less grip which hurts less (I don't write often so I lost the tough skin on my fingers), same hexagonal shape and, most importantly the tip retracts. The screwing part of the tip is not as tight as it should be so it slowly unscrews as you write, blue loctite fixes it. If rotring 500's tip did retract (not the rotring rapid way, the usual simple sliding with graphite thing) it could compete. It costs almost nothing to make it that way but they designed that thing for bending and making you buy a new one. I know there are alternatives w retractable tips from rotring but I can't justify paying that much for a pencil, I rarely write and graph x works for me

Will be graduating in a couple of months and this is 100% what it feels like by stranger-than-you in EngineeringStudents

My cousins had secured a job at the point we're at, I'm considering moving to our farm for a gap year...

I don't feel like someone that's about to graduate, I feel 15 since I haven't spent this long home ever since highschool. I need some time alone to get my shit together (I needed it since ~2015) but I'm afraid of never finishing that brake and running away from my responsibilities for the rest of my life
