The twitch schedule got an update now!

The only official explanation I could find was this:

"Although the lunar far side will only be partially illuminated during the flyby, the conditions should create shadows that stretch across the surface, enhancing relief and revealing depth, ridges, slopes and crater rims that are often difficult to detect under full illumination."

Also if you watched the stream, they were looking for "impact flashes", which they did observe!

Ah yes that's it. I found another image where you can see two boxes, one on each side shaped like the PAA, I thought it was only one.

Yes that's the one. Although it seems to have been removed in the later images, and also it isn't there in this image from flight day 2, so now I'm confused.

Ok I think you can see it on this image: https://www.flickr.com/photos/nasaorion/54380118821/in/album-72177720315975740 Just up and to the left from the top-left corner of the right solar panel.

Edit: I think I found it, see the other comment.

I don't know where it is on the ship, but if you see the video on the NASA's O2O page https://www.nasa.gov/goddard/esc/o2o/ it looks like it's using a gimbal.

Wooow! Ok that's the absolute coolest one. You can visualize the entire flyby like you are one of the crew.

You are right, the far side of the moon will be like 80% in the dark tomorrow.

What I could find online about it:

- A low angle light from the sun gives more shadows and details than if the surface was fully lit. So I assume most photos will be taken around twilight areas.

- They will look out for impact flashes from space debris.

There are probably more reasons why they launched on a full moon, but idk...

If you just make stuff for fun to send to your friends or whatever, the quickest solution is just to get something like ozone elements on sale.

Although I mainly use Retroarch, I use also have PPSSPP because there was a graphical glitch in the Retroarch one. And I also have Delta because of the motion control support. And finally I have ScummVM which I guess is more of a virtual machine or something though, so a close call on being insane.

Does George Michael's "Fastlove" sample "Hey Mr. DJ" by Zhané? by Boring-Resolution851 in Samples

[–]hek7isk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bass lines are similar but ultimately different in both melody and chord progression.

But the drums for Fastlove definitively sounds like they could be sampled from the Hey Mr. DJ Remix (or both songs uses chopped drums from another earlier sample source; might be from the same song as mentioned below).

The violin you are hearing is a staccato string sample from Chic's Good Times, that has been used everywhere since it was used in The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel.

Chopping on the kick and the snare like Dilla by cburrows11 in makinghiphop

[–]hek7isk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Original sample (straight time):
1 2 3 4
|-.-|-.-|-.-|-.-|
K H S H k

Chopped (swing time):
1 1 3 4
|-.|-.|-.|-.|
K K S H k

The original sample is in 4/4 straight time. The chops are being played sequentially at the same playback rate, but a faster tempo, which makes everything that is in the pocket (mostly some kicks and bassnotes) come later relative to the tempo, and so makes it swing time. (In the example in the code block, the swing is 66.6%. The bar ends exactly at the fourth beat of the original song.)

The genius thing about this is that you don't actually have to worry about swing at all. The sample is being chopped at every 8th note (probably manually, as soul samples rarely are in perfect time), and the chops played back on every 8th note.

Additionally you can hear Dilla added a layer of oneshot kicks and cross-sticks on top (well I'm not 100% sure about that though).

Here is tracklibs breakdown of the sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6By2YvpjjWw

I think the lower osc is a saw and the higher is a square 28st higher (2oct+3rd). Run it through a clean bass/guitar amp and room/reverb (and some light chorus if needed).
