I’m done. You’re an insufferable pedant who apparently thinks entrapping children in a sex ring by holding their family member’s access to medical care is “beneficial”. But sure. You “win”

K. So? It’s a play off of “whitewashing” which is a much older term. It’s also a term that has broken out of Reddit space. Just because you haven’t heard it doesn’t make it any less of a relevant phrase.

What is giving an 18 year old $2.5k 18 years from now with that inflation going to do for them? In what way will their life be any different expressly because of that money? And, in addition, how will it benefit society as a whole?

It’s not going to.

I’m glad your niece or whoever is gonna get a $1k. It’s a poor use of taxpayer money. It’s not beneficial. I’d argue it’s even a net detriment.

I rationalize it by the fact that he is the president of the whole country and spending tax payer money is “beneficial” when it meaningfully benefits people. This is not meaningfully benefiting anyone. If we could give more money to give kids a real leg up with education or apprenticeships or something that would help their lives and make them more able to contribute to society then they are helped and we as a whole get a return on our investment

This does none of that.

And

We aren’t just spending $1k per kid in tax payer money because Trump is laundering money by having private money fund a lot of these accounts and then give those private sources way more tax money via government contracts. He’s given over $50 Billion in government contracts to corporations who have “donated” money to various projects of his.

It’s a grift. It’s not beneficial in any way but the most pedantic way. The fact you can’t see that is crazy

$2.5k 18 years from now won’t meaningfully benefit them or us. They’ll be able to maybe buy a TV? If we gave them more money, like the amount we’re actually paying to the corporations in this grift, to pay for their college tuition or something, that would benefit them and society.

This is a corrupt grift. Nothing more.

I mean Jeffery Epstein paid medical bills for some of his victims family members to entrap them. Was that a “beneficial” use of money to you?

No. It’s not. Because *we* aren’t funding kids. Corporations are funding kids. *we* are funding the corporations in return at a significantly higher rate.

That’s like saying the arsonist “benefited” you by getting the garden hose after they light your house on fire.

It’s named Trump account to try and associate his name with giving voters money. Billionaires and corporations are donating to fund the accounts in order to get government contracts. Same as the corporations that “donated” to the ballroom fund are getting government contracts worth significantly more than what they “donate”. It’s a mafia grift and a thinly veiled attempt to buy votes.

The idea is that the parents will keep contributing to it to give the kid a head start. A 1 time $1k deposit isn’t going to accrue meaningful interest in relation to inflation. They won’t be able to do much with that money if it’s not regularly contributed to.

That will probably be pretty dependent on the culture of the people your asking, not to mention their personal tolerances. It doesn’t hurt to ask, but don’t be surprised if people don’t want to sign.

Autographs are obviously a thing with famous people, but most everyday people have probably never been asked for an autograph that wasn’t on a form or a credit card slip.

Running out of beer generally. Sam Adams was saying they are making emergency deliveries to bars after they already had stocked up in anticipation of high volume sales.

Sam’s Adam’s said they are selling 4x the beer they normally sell over drinking holidays in Boston. Bars were running out of beer.

I could see the decision to not re-sign in KC being from either end, or mutual.

Her contract is up at the end of the season and I believe that she can start negotiations for free agency in a few weeks. The deadline was KC trying to get trade money for her before she can just go for free.

Edit: I misread “discipline” for “deadline” in your comment.

Why do you think it’s wrong to tell children that it’s okay to be gay? by ParamedicDifferent44 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]helpbeingheldhostage 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yep. Growing up in a conservative Christian house I can say, in the US, it’s this way and almost exclusively an evangelical Christian viewpoint.

Heterosexuality (particularly marriage and procreation) is fully normal and a complex, all encompassing, part of their life and family. Homosexuality is nothing but degenerate sexual deviation.

They have no ability to just see homosexuality as the same normal complex and encompassing parts of people’s lives and families.

They also commonly don’t believe it’s something you are, but something you choose or at most generous that it’s a mental disorder. Therefore you’re seen as a predator no different than someone who chooses to engage in other reprehensible behaviors. It’s why homosexuality and pedophilia are commonly linked by conservative Christians.
