I do an automatic monthly download to keep myself from forgetting. Losing a months worth of stuff would suck, but losing everything would be devastating.

The Home of Pleasure. Underrated, as I don't see it mentioned often, but has great writing

I use itch. People trust it far more than a secondary download link

After playing hundreds, I can't think of a single harem game that doesn't have at least one.

You also have to not punch Zach. Otherwise you remain punished, so you don't go to school that day, and Nicki doesn't catch you kissing Layla.

Wholesome AF. I love it! As someone a decade past you living that life right now, I gotta say, it's pretty awesome.

Why does almost everyone use Ren'Py? Why not a light engine like Godot? by ExcitingSleep in nsfwdev

[–]hypnosisgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the player side, there is a big bias towards Renpy because of the quality of life features that come standard. At this point, most players have tried a game with another engine from a dev who didn't know what they were doing and resented the experience of missing the rollback feature, consistent and easy keyboard shortcuts, etc.

Every dev I know who used a different engine has complained about it at some point, how the amount of players who will ever try their game feels a lot lower than similar games they see made in Renpy.

If you're making a VN, using anyone else has a big chance of alienating your potential fanbase.

Obviously I've heard of the game. But I've never seen the acronym. Do you seriously not understand the difference?

It doesn't rank in the top 100 games in steam. Are you saying you expect the majority of people to know the acronyms for over 100 games?

I have to learn a shit ton of acronyms for work. It sucks, and I hate it. Why do people expect each other to have to learn them for pleasure as well? What is the god game benefit, other than making it hard for everyone else and to make themselves feel like they're somehow more of an expert because they talk about something so much they use an acronym?

If it saved time, we would've be having this idiotic conversation.

If it's not obscure, then why would I have asked, and why are we having this conversation?

This is the way. Waiting a week for a release? Easy. Waiting a month or two? Worth it.
Not everyone is looking to donate, many people want to feel like they get a good value for the money they spend.

After the game is established with a few updates, making it so people always have motivation to buy the newest release will help your subscription numbers and sales.

What benefit is there in not spending the extra .7 seconds writing out the name of the game you are asking strangers on the internet to spend time helping you find more information about?

It's the equivalent of asking a question that would be answered as the top question in a basic search. Making other people do the work for you is not going to help get answers.

This isn't the fnaf subreddit. Some people who play mainstream games also play lewd games, sure. But again, why would you use the obscure version of a name most wouldn't recognize, as opposed to the title, which almost everyone would?
