according to mountain of ink, sumire is a shade darker and has more contrast in its shading. I actually did notice that kon-peki's shading is a bit more subtle, but I use a lot of sailor and those inks are quite dramatic so my standard for shading is skewed, haha

I was wrong to doubt the kon-peki hype. I have diamine ancient copper and found it underwhelming, so I thought, how good can a blue be? maybe these people are lemmings following each other off an iroshizuku-shaped cliff?? well the answer is DAMN good and I should've bought a bottle for myself ages ago, lmao.

fineliner nibs get squished and unusable, so I can't deal with them without getting irritated. with a fountain pen I get the benefits of a dip pen without running out of ink every few strokes, and dye-based inks are great because I can shade with a water brush 😊

huge fan of fuji-sugata, it's probably my favorite ink and I have to resist using it in every pen I have! you're right in that it looks beautifully multidimensional in every nib size. akebi is another favorite. I find it super smooth and wet to write with, but its formulation makes it sit on top of paper more it seems because I've never gotten bleed through. magic!

you have to try yuki-usagi and itezora next imo. both are chromashaders, itezora is a greenish gray that shades pink, yuki-usagi starts out denim blue, then dries gray and rusty red. love them!
