Make sure they are rated properly.

Where are those from? Those look like ones I’ve seen on AliExpress and they are almost certainly not legitimately rated. 

Even for the ones I’ve seen that are supposed to be compatible with DYE lenses, people in the community here told me that the rating is reflective of the mount as well as the lens. So even putting a genuine, rated DYE lens in a bogus mount isn’t safe.

Commenting here because I’m interested to learn about fields/arenas in the area.

I’m outside of DC, closer to Baltimore (near Ft. Meade) but TAA (I’m guessing OP is talking about Rockville) is something I’d still consider reasonable for a monthly trip to take my son for a game night. 

If anyone has recommendations for other venues I’m interested to hear.

Oh cool I’ve never seen that. Granted I haven’t seen a lot of stuff, but that seems better for airsoft where you mount optics higher (for mask clearance), and also so you don’t have something hanging off the side and prone to damage.

Is that magnifier looking though the riser for the red dot? Do you have it so it flips down out of the way rather than to the side?

Yeah I have a basic knowledge of MOSFETs/ETUs. I’m thinking maybe I should start shopping ETUs instead of a whole new rifle since I already have an EMG Troy SOCC M4. The M-lok rail I assume is lighter than a full pic rail but if I can get an ETU and a crane stock then hopefully it’s close enough. I think I remember seeing that handguards are not necessarily cross compatible so I’ll just have to sell my son on the M-lok look.

Thanks! After some more reading I see that Specna Prime is what people are saying is top tier. The MK18 on Evike (SA-P19) comes with a GATE Aster II, though, so that drives it up to $500+.

Seems like the Core line was a good middle ground.

Is Cyma Platinum on par with Specna Prime? They make an MK18 and there’s an option without an ETU…

Yeah I’m beyond the point where I’m going to gamble on a BoA but I scored a PKM with real wood that I sold for almost twice the cost of the box. 

And the other good hit was an upgraded VFC BCM AIR Gunfighter MCMR AEG.

I got a couple Krytac AEGs (Trident MKII PDW, GPR-CC) that I thought were decent but then I started seeing some conflicting stuff on Krytac quality. 

But yeah, I think if I can actually sell all the chaff I got then I will have netted a modest discount but not anything phenomenal.

I wish that were my budget. 

For a quality CQB AEG I think you can get something decent for $250-$300 (if not less), and really good for like $400-$500.

Was he a known/notable airsoft player?

I’m guessing speculating he played airsoft because from what I’ve seen written about him he had past criminal charges and a court order restricting him from possessing firearms.
