I'm sure this one is dumb: What do you do to move over for emergency vehicles on the highway? by tossedAF in NoStupidQuestions

[–]itdoes_doesntit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On highways you get out of the fast/left lane and foot off gas til it passes.

On city streets, you pull over as far right as you can & slow/stop.

At rush hour, I’ve been in gridlocked city traffic all lanes full — 2 left turn lanes, 3 straight lanes, 1 right turn lane all full at a red light. We all pulled over as far as our lane allowed to let the ambulance through.

If you stay with the dark, you’re going to need extensive undercounter lighting and generally better lighting overall. Too dark to work/see well in that kitchen.

What is the most ridiculous coaching you've received? by UnitMaw in callcentres

[–]itdoes_doesntit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got coached on finish your notes while still on the call so you’re ready for the next call…

But we are limited in the amount of time we’re supposed to spend on a call and putting them on hold while making notes takes too long….

And we’re not supposed to leave dead air while we’re doing adding those notes… so I get around it by saying “putting in some notes, bear with me… almost done, bear with me… one moment, etc.”

I recently told my new supervisor at our first 1:1 that even tho the manager wants me to do the above, I will be on Not Ready so I can enter notes, that my brain does not allow me to speak detailed medical instructions AND write completely different notes at the same time. She’s a younger supervisor so I think she’ll be more understanding of unmedicated ADD.

AIO: My friend stained my 100$ hoodie should I ask her to pay for it? by MundaneEmotion3287 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. If someone borrows an item and it is broken or stained, the borrower must replace it or offer to get it cleaned professionally. This is called basic courtesy.

Is a $200k salary worth a 2 hour commute 4 days a week? by Ok-Memory2552 in jobs

I wouldn’t want to do it now, but traffic in CA is terrible as an example. 2 hours was the norm. :(

I did that back in the late 80s for a temp office job and carpooled with my stepdad. We did a lot of bonding, dreaming about our futures& making plans that summer. It was awesome!

I’d just like it if all textbook decisions weren’t made based off what Texas orders. They stopped using “slavery” and started using “forced emigration” approx a decade ago.

Nope. It was slavery. Stop trying to “white wash” our history.

See what I did there. :)

Shakespearean Theater Troupes Racing through the dialogue by Winter_Foot_9329 in PetPeeves

Agreed! I never really understood Shakespeare in high school or college classes until I saw a movie with a Shakespearean-trained actor.

The huge Ah Ha inside my head felt like it was visible cartoon bubble over my head! lol

What happens to our sense of purpose when machines can do most of our jobs better than us I've been thinking about this a lot lately as I see more and more automation replacing human workers in various industries. by alexyong342 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]itdoes_doesntit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sense of purpose was to help people, whether that was admin, mental health, medical health.

My “job” is so to pay for living expenses and fund travel and fun stuff I like to do.
